You're guaranteed an award through rng as well. The only difference is that a game that is rng based (diablo, borderlands, phantasy star online) those games don't lock you out for a week

Rng means you get a chance at a reward not a reward.
My only issues with lockouts is that there really isn't a whole lot to do. Logging in once a week for a raid is kind of pointless and a waste of money.

So what if Antiquated Equipment is only upgradeable via Alexander Savage ? It'll be upgradeable via the new 24-man raid and alternate methods come 3.1 and ilvl210 will still be the highest ilvl 210 for about...what...5 months ?

In light of another thread. I guess doing the bare minimum isn't so bad. There's always something to do, don't have to worry about grinding gear and upgrading it only to have to replace it less than a month after the game came out.

Because locking upgrade items behind content unrelated is pointless. Has been since ARR, you're doing double the work to upgrade something not related to the content it's behind. It's like getting a salad for lunch, but putting dressing on it requires you to go to the library to read Shakespeare, then you can go buy dressing and put it on the salad. Sounds a bit ridiculous now doesn't it?

Did anyone really expect them to not limit it to 450 a week like they have been doing for how long now? If it bothers you so much that you can't fully gear up in a week come back when the new Tomes are released and Esoterics are acted as Law. Overall, I am just tired of seeing people complaining over stupid stuff like this.

The reason caps like this exist, is because otherwise we would all be sitting with full gear sets after the first week... Or they make you grind for the gear, so that it would take a long time for players to get that gear, but then people would complain about it being too big of a grind...

Actually no its not stupid. Yes 450 cap was the norm back then and its a bad idea. Supposing you even hit the cap every week, it takes a month just to get the weapon, the chest and the armor. Two, two and a half weeks for accessories, and probably a month more for the rest.

Sure it will be easy to get esoterics tomes when esoterics gear is no longer relevant. Why bother then? Oddly enough some of us want to do relevant stuff
