I didnt mind the 450 cap until I actually did the math. It takes 3 months and 3 weeks to get a full set for ONE job. That time gating is a little bit extreme just saiyan.

First of all the prices on gear are no different from what they were in 2.0. Secondly you are suppose to supplement that gear with alex savage gear.
Well you really dont even want the full set anyway as usually half of the pieces are poop and the best setup is mix of both eso and savage gear like it used to be in ARR. Now if you are not doing or planning to do savage then it doesnt even matter what you really wear as ilvl180 is overkill for dungeons and alex nm is also doable with it. Evenually eso cap will be removed and everyone can easily get them for glamours if they so choose.

Exactly this. You can gear up every job with law gear. Combine this with dungeon gear, hunts and alex normal to make it faster. I mean, 160 gear rains on you for stepping in expert roulette. People need to stop assuming they need to gear up to BiS with every job during every patch and see, suddenly the game isn't so grindy anymore. Eso gear is just a bonus and later you can get it for glamour much easier. If you raid savage, get eso gear on your main (the job you get savage drops for) and law gear on your alts. The issue with this current set up is that even people not interested in the harder modes burn through the normal mode content way too quickly and are left with nothing to do. They can't just make the difficulty on normal stuff harder because that just locks it off and no longer makes it doable content, which has been the goto strategy in this themepark mmo genre for ages.
Really, they seem to need the following things to keep the majority of people playing:
1) Some kind of procedural generated dungeon / zone content for gathering and adventuring in.
2) Reward players for engaging in any activity in the game with relevant currency. The cap is irrelevant as much as if someone can still make upwards progression on their main class while working at something like crafting, gathering, Gold Saucer, etc.
3) Fix the roulette system. All that the wanted adventurer bonus has proven is that lo and behold, tanks are almost always needed. Give the DPS or healers a shot at 9k gil and 2500+ company seals for once.
4) Make harder mode dungeon / raids provide unique rewards, not outright superior ones to the ones available through currency. Higher difficulties are about proving ones skill, and there's nothing skill based about having your numbers increase and make the content faceroll easier. Save that for when the season is done and the next tier is set.
The current system they got may work for now, but it's going to go through the WoW entropy cycle that has been continuing onwards to this day.

Well, almost every MMO has some kind of token system to keep people playing weekly, if they deleted the limit, people like me would have full eso sets in 1 day.
Then you can go ahead and start working on gearing up the 12 other jobs.
I mean, if you have the fortitude to stomach that kind of repetition, be my guest! I personally don't understand the extreme gating when most players play more than one job. Taking 6 months to gear up every job in the game (at which point you'll have a new set to acquire)? Sensible. The same amount of time to gear up one and a half jobs? Now they're just not even respecting my time.
It's hard to feel motivated to chase a carrot when, well, first of all, it's a carrot and not a slice of cake, and secondly they make me run the treadmill into and beyond the point content exhaustion kicks in.
But of course, this is a fundamental themepark MMORPG problem that is not exclusive to FFXIV, so I guess I'll just go find something else to do in the mean time. It's not like I have a moral imperative to stay subbed to the game, after all.
Which is a bit silly, considering less than 2% of the population consistently clears that level of content in the first place. Funny how that works out.

I like how a few people's argument hinges on playing and gearing multiple jobs while ignoring the fact that, aside from esoteric gear (which is AF3: Job specific gear), we are gearing multiple jobs for use already. Play mage, do Alex NM, get mage gear, both your blm and smn are geared. Play BRD, gear MCH. Play any tank and all your tanks are geared. Capping tomes isn't as grindy as people think it is, as you acquire it from most content you'd be doing anyway, without even noticing you're capping. The only place that "requires" top end gear (i200+) is A4, and if you're clearing that, you're getting top end gear for multiple jobs AND farming esoterics for the AF3 you prefer anyway.
*something something* it's iconic gear, and the only actual way for my healers/tanks/casters/ranged dps to look unique, not identical *something something*I like how a few people's argument hinges on playing and gearing multiple jobs while ignoring the fact that, aside from esoteric gear (which is AF3: Job specific gear), we are gearing multiple jobs for use already. No point arguing with whiners. Let them whine as much as they can and quit. The game will be a better place without them =\Or they will learn to deal with it
