This patch dropped the ball hard

People have already found out alex savage mechanically isn't that hard it does require high dps and gear checks. This different gear sets give you something to work toward. You aren't suppose to just go jump right into savage with 180 gear you should gear up to 190. Only the best players can beat it in 190 gear cause they push out as much dps as they can. Everyone else will most likely beat it when most of their members are 190 or 200.

I fully believe that if people are going to haul ass in raids that they should be handsomely rewarded for it~

Honestly I'd be happy if they made the raid gear all BiS, but I haven't had much time today to actually sit down and statcrunch (wooooo~! studying!), though I've heard some say that the Savage gear isn't BiS for a bunch of pieces, which is kinda odd! But again, I'll have to sit down and see for myself.

That being said, I do think they could have been a bit kinder with the tomes malarky, especially for what isn't meant to be top tier gear. D:

It's not odd-- it's exactly the same as it was in 2.xx. BiS gear was a mixture of Ironworks and Dreadwyrm to ensure that both were relevant to endgame.

This is true, but to me personally it feels odd^^;, kinda takes away a bit of the value of those hard-to-get raid bits if they aren't going to be the BiS, considering how much of a PITA it is to get them~ Both can still be relevant to endgame, but one can be a little more relevant! I hope I managed to make my thoughts a little clearer? XD You'll have to forgive me, I can't brain well today (send coffee!)

That wasn't my point in any way. Not to mention that's not even possible since the upgrades required to = the raid gear drop in the raid...

I bet there will be other means to upgrade the stuff later on. Perhaps they will add the items in the upcomming raid, just like how they did before.

I've been playing since launch. I've many a raider follow with what I'm stating. They gear up then take a break hiatus whatever you want to call it till new content comes out. I'm not saying if you don't put in the effort that you should be rewarded the same as those who do. So come off it and stop accussing me of saying such things. Question why should we not be all on the same page as others? Are they so wonderful that only they should get that kinda treatment? Some people can't find statics to beat things not that they haven't tried. Some people are not in large fc's or in a fc that has at least 8 members. And some people have time restraints that keep them from being able to raid. Does that mean they shouldn't be able to get upgrades because of said things. SE said this game was meant for casuals. How does tying things behind raids make this game a casual friendly game. To me its more of a raider friendly game.

This is a casual friendly game, get a hang of yourself. Majority of the contents are casual in nature.

just like real life, you have to work for it. And the stuff that's locked behind the Raid is not needed to enjoy the casual parts of FFXIV, those are for the Raiders that wanna work for it.
in 2.xx I never finished Coil, just downed T5 before 3.0. It didn't stop me from enjoying the game by not having all the endgame Coil gear and weapons.
