    [dev1032] Class uniqueness

    Hello there!

    I want to get rid of some ideas about the class changes.

    First of all, we need a solution to the class changing and the skills/abilities. It is totally annoying if you switch classes and all those skills are getting sucked up and once you change back you have to set everything again. Which becomes annoying if you have like 20+ Skills to be set again.

    What I could image would be, that once the class is getting changed, that those skills are getting saved to the slots they were set initially. If you change the job for the 1st time, the other's getting saved somewhere and you get an empty bar for your new job.

    Important to say is.. that a lot of skills can be used across the classes. Which means there need to be individual bars for each class, even it means a few skills are coming up multiple times on different bars.

    Another suggestion:

    Regarding the class changing... we usually change our equipment if we're changing the jobs (weapon & gear). The equip changing takes a lot of time at the moment and we just blink for 10 secs until we're done. So appear, dissappear, appear, dissapear etc etc.

    What about if there's an unique "class-change-animation"? Just hide/block the "blinking" and overlay it with a little change animation. For example.. if I'm changing from ALC to ARC. It would be cool to see if I'm actually "drawing my bow" and "put my quiver on my back" or something like that.
    Or in terms of a MAR getting that great axe swung.

    I could be all flashy and stuff, but doesn't have to be. Dunno what effort it would be to actually implement that, but since we have no MogHouse with a twisting Moogle that would add a lot to the atmosphere

    What do you guys think about it? :O

    Isn't the topic supposed to be about making classes more unique, not the mechanics of changing classes?

    While you make some good points, I'm not sure devs are interested in this particular discussion under that tag. The process of making classes more unique might make action setting moot, for example.

    I know. But I couldn't find any topic which would come close to the fact of "general class changes". Since the uniqueness involves overhauling the classes itself, these suggestions I made could be implemented on the fly during that process (or maybe not, thats up to SE :O )

    I could change the topic to "class mechanics" or something like that. If it's really the wrong topic or the wrong devtag SE can change it or make a red post about it being compleltly wrong. I will gladly change it then

    i think classes need more class only traits / skills, like in FF11 not all passive skills passed over to main job when you sub-job. also FF14 needs some passive traits that grow with rank. while the traits that can be bought with marks should be more then buy & equip. but some type of quest or cut-scene where the player bought formal training. what i also think FF14 needs is more unique abilities like FF11's 2-hour abilities that is only for that class only.

    class swapping animation... well i dont like the time it currently takes to swap classes and adding some animation to it would prob slow down the time to swap classes. as a thm/cnj i tend to swap classes in between pulls to try to spread the SP over both classes. even using a macro my timing has to be almost on the dot to go into passive mode and swap classes and i use a macro to do it all. so i dont want to see an animation that might increase class swapping.

    It wasn't meant to increase the time of swapping, it should be just a "replace". More or less a "nice thing to have" instead of a "must have".
    Edit: Oh of course there should be a toggle on/off option for the "animations" as well.

    But you're right, adding some 2h's or something similiar would add to that uniqueness aspect. I'd love more "class" quests or missions with a few cutscenes involved here and there. Even adding some sort of AF would be awesome. It was always a thing which you could work on. Stopping @50 to collect all those AF's was always a nice change. And getting that last piece and having FULL AF made me happy :P Even some of the AF Armors sucked like hell. But it was more for the looks anyways

    At the moment we're just tossing out some ideas and SE is just looking for minor adjustments they can make in the next updates. They really have a big chunk to fix and "bigger" implementations we suggest are just being made once they have a game at a nice ground.

    I'm still waiting for a new letter or some patch notes though. It's about time since they announced the 2 weeks rythm. The update on 3rd March was actually the one in the end of february. So it's about time
