I finished 2.5 on the gathering light stage. I can say with certainty that with 3.0 the light gathering was doubled again. and with zeta I had to farm garuda on bright 5-6 times to finish 1 mahatma so from what the websites said that was doubled as wellThey haven't been doubled. People who have been doing these again can tell you that these stages take just as long as before.
I'm working on my SEVENTH Zeta right now and the Novus stage alone still takes too long to finish. WAY too long. Every other step can be finished within hours now. Novus will take days of literal nonstop Trials grinding.

I find the issue is that you don't seem to get light from Heavensward dungeons and trials, which sucks.

They were definitely doubled and doubled again (so 4x the rate it was at original release of the nexus step).
Biggest problem nowadays IMO is that doing stuff unsynced doesn't give lights, which is inconsistent, considering that dungeons for animus books and zodiac items can be done unsynced while still potentially getting credit for completion.
Yes, being able to unsync and still get lights would cheapen the two steps, but honestly, given how much of a slog of a process getting a zeta still is even despite that, and given the fact the relics are basically just glamours at 60, I really don't see the harm in it anymore.
I just recently started the Novus stage, and it definitely feels (haven't confirmed it yet) that the rate of light acquisition is approximately double that of 2.5.
