Any news on preset gear that doesn't take up inventory space?

Has SE mentioned anything about having preset gear for all classes? Like being able to select certain gear so when you switch to that class that gear automatically becomes equipped? I know we're able to do it through macros, but being able to have gear for all of my classes without it taking up inventory space would be nice.

I believe one of the magazine interviews refers to something in the works called the "mannequin system," but it's still pretty far off (like 1.20 and beyond). I think the idea is you'd be able to save gear sets for each class and have them not be stored in inventory, but information is scarce at this point.
