My question will be (maybe someone already asked or said) : what's the point of being good at a video game ? I mean it's just a game. And like i can see on Lodestone for you : you barely have combat job high lvl, you have crafters that's it. So you don't really touch the EndGame (you don't have any reward from pvp or T13 for example so i assume u don't play much pvp or pve at all). If you don't enjoy those kind of contents, good for you you completly have the right to, but find some mates to do high lvl, getting stress, wipe together etc until you finally beat ppl in PVP or boss in PVE and you will understand what's the point to be good (not elite) at your job.
My thoughts exactly. Also re-emphasising the following quotation below because I want to figuratively make a poster out of it:
If people will build a $300 million transatlantic cable to shave off 5 milliseconds, then theorycrafters will strive for any increase in damage output, even if it is .0012%. We'll even make guides or posts on how to play our classes well. Even if I do better than that other ninja, I'll still help him out if I can.
I disagree with this, you shouldn't generalize for everyone like that. There are people who play video games for a challenge, that is what they find fun.
As far as the OP, the easy answer is...raids are where people stand out, the ability to do mechanics flawlessly and keep up their rotation. I just came back to the game but there was always the potential for big difference in Coil raids between players of the same class due to player skill.

You misunderstand my point or you simply don't agree with it. There is no fight at all, in this game, that has a high level of difficulty. MMO's are designed this way because they have large player bases. It's not a manner of opinion, it's a matter of mechanics and appeasing a fanbase. I'm not saying you can't be better than another guy, or that a duty can't be hard, but that is always a lack of synergy between players or a lack of knowledge.
The OP is complaining that the skill cap on this game is low. That is very true and intentional. If battles were too hard then guess what would happen? We'd lose servers because they would be ghost towns.

this thread is a troll farm.
Everyone knows the only way you can tell if a player is elite or not is how pretty their glamour is.![]()

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
When was I belittling players unless people were making attacks on me? Or am I supposed to let people attack me without having fun for myself? You come into my thread and call it "ebola", so of course I'm going to mock you. If you came into my thread like that other guy and posted an honest response I'll give you a straight response back.Of course. I do it for three reasons.
1) Hobby (sad, I know but yolo)
2) To ensure there's a gap between myself and other able players, so outsiders can differentiate ourselves from the good and bad players.
3) Dragoon #1 DPS or bounce outta here.
One thing I don't do is belittle other players or resort to troll-baiting, especially players who are trying their hardest or are willing to learn... With the exception of troll-posts or absolutely dumb posts.
The thing is, I agree there needs to be a platform or at least something community based so people known who is who, but that's already there. A lot of players actual skill level is shown in raids. There's players who, no matter how hard they try, don't have the skill capacity to reach numbers "elite players" can reach. It doesn't take 1 hour. 2 hours. It could take weeks for average players to reach levels you're capable of achieving. Why is it I can parse 1k on a fight, but other players struggle to break 800 on the same encounter? Player skill.
You mention all of these little tricks to excel your DPS for "1-2 DPS more". Yes, that's what a top player does. He/she wants those little bits of DPS. He/she wants that DPS milestone to flaunt their e-peen and other players gaze upon his/her amazing 1337 skills.
And here's another thing. Just because it's easy for me, you, thendiel, auirily, sunny, krietor, Aikaal, sleigh, hack, Ricky, odowla, pands and many, many more amazing players in our respective communities to pick up and learn boss fights, rotation tips to be an effective player in raids in any given situation, this does not apply to the community as a whole. Majority of the players you see post in these forums ARE the elite players. The parses and posts you see here ARE high and very little variation between them all, because a majority of the best players flock to these forums.
Just because the average height is 5ft 10 and you're 6ft3 doesn't automatically invalidate this fact that the global average is lower than your height.
And besides. This thread and that Reddit post are ebola as there's toxic posts all over the place.
If you want to come into a thread and be a douche, expect a douche response back
My post was asking for more of a reward for being good at the game. To separate the good from the very good. If you find that belittling there may be some deep rooted insecurity issues with you.
Oh and fyi, skill isn't genetic like height. You work to be good at this game. Should someone who works 80hours a week only make 10% more than someone who works 40? Try using a better analogy next time
