Gotta keep this thread hot, because I think this will be important in how people assemble groups based on how this is answered.

[The rest of this post can be skipped.]

Players in-game sometimes have different mentalities when assembling a party. Like in Ul'dah, when people are looking for a tank in and you skip up to them as this happy marauder, thinking you're some kind of happy tank person just because you held enmity on a couple dozen leves while partying before. Then realize when they said tank, they really meant gladiator.

Or in FFXI at English launch when they shout, looking for White Mage in Jeuno, you prance up, get to the destination, then they ask, "Why aren't you using the Erase spell during these crawler fights?" "Because I don't have it." "LOL!" *booted*

And I'm thinking, "Aren't I better than nothing?"

The answer for those party leaders is "No." Nothing would be better.

And I feel it in my caboose, it's gonna happen again with Ifrit. Shouting in Ul'dah for an Ifrit party, you join up, someone eventually does a check on you, discover your grand company allegiance, and then it's Red Sauce on Pasta time for you. Not everyone is going to do it, but there's people out there that have the mindset that could do just that.
