well it is normally 2 anyway because after the first they do another one to fix the first ones bugs. now if they need to fix the second ones bugs![]()

I agree with OP's main point, I'd prefer one longer maint than 2 shorter ones.
After all, being at this time is to "reduce the number of players affected" right?
Theoretically, one longer one would be less of an impact than 2 shorter ones wouldn't it?

It's pretty easy to see why they are splitting the patches. This is what happens when we complain about all the crashes and stuff when 2.0 came out. We did this lol. They are being extra careful to split this major expansion into several patches to make sure it works and we are happy.
I think this just proves we will always be unhappy no matter what... :P
By splitting it, it's easier to troubleshoot it if something goes wrong of course. They don't want to game server to crash. Also, the load on the server won't be as heavy if content drops at different times (crafting and savage).

There are many reasons why they could be splitting the patches; hell people have speculated things from download size to 'planned emergency maintenance'. But that's all it is, speculation. It's pretty easy to see why they are splitting the patches. This is what happens when we complain about all the crashes and stuff when 2.0 came out. We did this lol. 2 days isn't going to make or break load size, that's just more downtime~
And no one said anything about being unhappy, people can try and paint this thread as another QQ thread, but that's not the case~
Even though the maintenances are eating into our playtime, we understand and appreciate that downtime happens, it's an MMO. But at the same time, we just wish that they weren't so.... numerous as of late. Weekly I can understand, and that's fine, but over the last 30 days, 8 of those have been taken by maintenance.
As for the troubleshooting; they have test servers for this :x. Yes, things can still go wrong here and there, but the main bulk of testing has already been done~
Have a wonderful day guys! :3

PART of those days have been taken.
I'm sat here bored as hell and I'm not complaining about maint since I know in a few hours, I'll be online. If you cannot stay up later, or wake up earlier, it's your fault.
I mean really, if you get off work an hour before maint... Go to bed when you get home. Set your alarm 4 hours early. Boom, maintainance problems fixed.
Only reason I'm up right now is I overslept, I meant to wake up and play for ~6 hours till maint then go back to bed till the servers were up![]()

You should probably read the thread too... D:PART of those days have been taken.

I didn't mean 8 complete days had been taken (that's pretty obvious), and yes, oh em gee, it's totally my fault that I took a job where I wouldn't be working 'normal hours', and it's also a job where I can't screw around with my sleep schedule like that, or clock off early. (Tiredness =mistakes, mistakes can = death, literally.)
We're not asking for maint to be changed to a different time, honestly, we're just musing about how often it's been as of late. There's a great deal of respect and appreciation floating around here for the guys that do all of the maintenance work. But you'd know that... if you read the thread :x
I kinda wish people would stop reading the first post, cherrypicking the last post and then making an assumption on the rest of the thread's contents. This isn't your typical "OMGQQMAINT" thread.

No, I read the entire thread, and it's complaining and overstating that there is "too much maint". That and a conversation centred on peoples CATS. They've split the maints for reasons unclear, deal with it. Change your sleep pattern for a day. If you can't slide your sleep forward, you're probably not that great at whatever important job it is, be it a medic, late nigh maintenance engineer or 12 hour shifter in a factory, adaptability in your schedule is important. You should probably read the thread too... D:

I'm not cherry picking, I'm taking the overall tone and that is "QQ too much maint". It sucks, it really does, but they split it and it'll stay split, the times are when they are and they have only ever significantly changed when there has been an emergency. At the least, you know in advance there will be a second maint soon after, so you can make plans.

Ahhaha oh god, just no. Yes, adaptability is important but how dare you make such basless assumptions on someone's skills in that way. I'm sorry but that is plain rude.
I happen to be pretty good at what I do, thanks. And I can adapt~ flexibility is important but honestly usually I'm only ever covering the later shift as opposed to earlier shift (which does make adapting to the overnighter much easier since I usually sleep at around 5~am anyhow.) I do also take my work very seriously, since you know, people's lives hang in the balance. People > gametime.
You're completely misreading the tone~ and 2~3 comments about peoples' cats doesn't make this entire conversation centered on it. The QQing you assume we're doing is merely musing~ 2 totally different things, the latter comes with a whole lot less whining.
I understand you're bored, but coming into a thread with a misguided superiority complex is just making you look bad. :x
