Craft leveling requiring Master III books

Does anyone find it super annoying that there are multiple options for leveling xp that REQUIRE you to have already purchased the blue script "MasterXXXX III" books? I typically have been getting enough scripts while leveling from 56-60 to buy each master book as soon as I hit 60. I have master leatherworking and master weaving.

Bah, I knew I should have grinded 59-60 on my goldsmith last night when the Rowena script turn in was something easy to farm mats for. Now I want to get that last level of xp, and I'm looking at options that don't require 5-6 mats.

My daily GC turn in as a 59 goldsmith is "Citrine Choker of Slaying", only available from the masterbook. Two of the goldsmith level 58 levequest require items from the mastergoldsmith III book. The level 59 rowena collectable is usually from the master III books.

Since the master III books provide item recipes that require level 60 to equip, we really shouldn't be seeing these things pop up when we are level 58-59 crafters. This would be like having level 45 levequests that required one-star ilevel 55 items.

I'll finish leveling goldsmith today by spamming a lower level levequest, but this is still questionable design choice.

Its not about spoonfeeding or not its just poor design.
Scripts should be about the next level/step of crafting/gathering not a requirement on the way to 60.

The masterbook3s were meant to be obtained and used at level 56.
Hence y ur level 60 job quest requires a masterbook3 recipe.

I have found a different kind of silliness with CUL collectables: recipes requiring bouillon cube, a scrip item, that don't even award scrips at that level.

On the whole, I like the collectables system, but it needs some tuning.

Yeah, but lets say you just hit 56, and finally have access to the earliest blue script collectable turn in. You now need 360 scripts to get the book. You will gain a minimum of 3.12 million xp turning in the items for those scripts, an extra 650k xp for having crafted those turn ins, and easily 1-2 million xp for crafting the materials to make the turn-ins.

Factor in any GC turn ins you may have done in this time, any levequests that caught your fancy, and additional gear you might have crafted, any script items that you failed to raise to a high enough collectablity...

You'll be sitting at level 58-59, and still not have the masterbook. *points at self

The old level 50 quests required you to make 1-star items with a materia melded to it. These final crafting quests are meant to be the introduction to "end-game" crafting. The level 45 levequests were not like that, and even the level 50 GC turn-ins never required you to make anything more complex than a raptor belt or a rosewood weapon.

I saw that one yesterday too. I was like "okay well... I mean... you do make a small profit of scrips overall, but... uhh... I think I'll pass" when I saw what you needed to get to make the thing.

I think they just randomly chose stuff for GC/Scrip turn ins without knowing what is required of it. The final quest requiring an item from the book is perfectly fine though IMO, since it's a max level quest... meaning there's no rush to finish it when the reward is just T4 materia.

They're not meant to be obtained/used at 56. They're intended to be obtained by 60. With how prices go currently though, you're generally better off with CRP, CUL, or BSM (if you have high enough MIN for Adamantite or other mats) for any scrip needs. Doesn't seem like, with how things are currently, they thought it through very well with expecting people to start their scrip gathering early on lol.

Spoonfed: A term meaning something is given away. Scrips are not 'given away', you earn them regardless. You need hundreds of them to get the recipe books, and these are only possible through collectable hand-ins which need to be crafted. At level 56, you earn a maximum of about 20 scrips per hand-in. You would need to complete 18 hand-ins for a single book, and many of those aren't exactly cheap recipes.

That's before mentioning that virtually all of them are compound recipes, requiring ingredients made from various other crafts to complete.

Don't get me wrong, I like the script system, and I think the price of the masterbooks is totally appropriate. I wouldn't change it one bit.

My only issue is that I'm seeing book recipes showing up as early as level 57-58 for turn-ins. The first time I saw one, I seriously thought my crafting log was glitched and that I was missing some level 56-60 recipes.

I mean, the crafting log states "56-60" as a category, but the only level 60 item available outside of masterbooks is a fishing lure. It feels as if there was some disconnect between the person deciding the turn-ins and the person who decided which recipes would be in the masterbooks.

Bullion Cube really should not have been a scrip item. It should have been something added to vendors in the various market areas, and the Cul guildhall area.
