Trying to get to Ishgard... Please help

I just made level 50 on my marauder and I did the main scenario quests where you kill the Imperials. Now I managed to survive all the cut scenes and I'm looking to get to Ishgard so I can try playing a Machinist. But I keep having to go through these irritating 4800 xp level 50 quests. it looks like there is about a hundred of them. Is this the only way to get to Ishgard and the foundation so I can get my Machinist job? Yes I own heavensward.

Gotta do allllll the story quests until you are allowed into Ishgard.

Yes. You have to finish all the main story quests.

I believe that is the only way to enter ishgard is thru your MSQ.

The brighter side of things is that the story gets better beyond Ultima Weapon and stuff, but yes, you need to do all of it. MSQ is a requirement for getting into Heavensward, it's not so bad though, it can go by pretty quickly.

If you're really into the story, you may have more reasons to get out a box of kleenex. Just don't let the tedious gopher quests ruin it (which can get a bit trying), perhaps rather than looking at the length of the trip, look at the desination. The plot is pretty solid and gets really good going into Heavensward, I hope you enjoy the ride along the way.

Well they could always have the WoL die in 3.X MSQ so new characters in 4.0 can choose to start in 2.0 or 4.0 when 4.0 is released.

That way players who choose to start in 4.0 can have faster access to 4.0 and older content faster without needing to go through 2.0 to 3.X MSQ since their new character is a new Adventurer who started his or her adventurer in 4.0 era.

but that is just wishful thinking at this point since SE so far wants content to be locked behind 2.0 to 3.X MSQ and new players must enjoy the MSQ at their own pace or try to burn through it as fast as possible to reach 3.0
