question about housing

I have a question, a friend of mine who no longer ant to play a game has a house and wants to give the house to me. the house is current a fc house and i would use it for a personal house he is prepaded to close down the fc to give to to be but we are nit sure how to go about doing this any info would help.

if he relinquishes does that mean the plot goes back up for sale
how can we figure out what the price would be if he cant just give it to me

You have 2 options
1) he gives you master control of the tc it is owned under (does not sound like you want to go this route)
2) he relinquishes the plot and it becomes available for everyone to buy so you need to snap it back up quick, i would suggest you make sure no one is in sprint distance prior to doing this since you posted on the forums on a high pop server.
You will have to buy the plot back at full cost.
I cant find the price charts atm but i would have 5m on hand for a small at least.
The house will be returned to permit which can be traded to you after.
House contents that do not destroy on removal can be transferee to you if you join the fc and take them into your personal inventory through the housing menu, they are bound once placed so you cannot directly trade them.

But doesn't it also increase as the ward fills up? So it inflates above the base cost? I thought I read that somewhere. I'd have plenty of extra handy for sure so I didn't miss out.

no this is wrong,
what happens is the following: estates start at the pricing in the above link and then over the Cours of three months lower themselfs to 50%
IF the house gets bought and then released again it is at 100% again (<-that might be what you heard)

You're going to want to take ownership of the FC and receive the house. This will save you many, many millions of gil. Personal Housing cannot build workshops or airships, and is decidedly inferior to an otherwise identical plot/home classified as Free Company housing for that reason.
