    Triple Triad Beginner guide?

I'm looking to build a competent deck but I'm not sure where to start. I only have the intial cards and since I'm newer I haven't seen any cards drop.

Where would you guys/gals suggest I go to start obtaining some powerful additions.

There are two main things you can do. You can build a deck that's got at least one strong number in every direction. Or you can build an entire deck that's strong in on one side/corner and start playing so that you're always capturing from the same side (can be tough for retakes if one of your cards is caught out.

That website up there is great for understanding the special rules and some of them demand another type of deck.
-Plus can be used to beat an enemy that otherwise has you heavily outmatched; you can literally use your weakest cards, learn theirs and then play to try and make two equal sums on your last card.
-Ascension needs a deck which has cards belonging to the same family because they become a point stronger on each side with every similar card in play. Beastmen are a great choice early on because each side will have an additional +3 or 4 by the end, or more if the enemy has placed some down. Move onto Garleans when you can have more 3*s.
-Reversal can usually use the types of decks that I mentioned at the start because you can pretty much play the same cards in the opposite direction for their weak sides. Alternatively use a weak Plus deck for an all-rounder of sorts.
-Fallen Ace does make your aces seem weaker. The NPCs know how to take advantage of it. All you need to do is wait until late to leave any ace-sides open.
