Probably so mages can't just run around in the Ifrit battle in passive and still regen MP. Just a guess.

But doing that was a tactic, and an important one, for the Batraal and Ogre fights. We've already seen Ifrit can do 1800+ wide AoE damage with a single attack. That's gonna wreak havoc on MP pools.

Stock up on ethers, I guess. They're gonna get expensive.

Gonna have to find a "safe" place to stand, that's the new tactic.

Edit: I'm not saying it's good or bad, that's just how I see it.

    Actually, because of this...
When players within an instanced raid are forced to log out due to a lost connection, they will now respawn near their party members upon logging back in.
(Only if one or more party members remain in the instanced area.)
...the tactic will be alt-tab and log back in to reset your enmity. I don't think SE thought this through.

Good guess, since the ifrit fight shows signs of that kind of mechanics. I wonder if this will apply to the rest of the game though.
