While I get your stance on this and understand it, those words have differing levels of vulgarity. While yes, ultimately they mean the same thing, some are less acceptable in certain circles of society to use.

Think about the myriad names of genitalia. You don't exactly go and talk to a gyno about your c*** (though to be fair I did have a drunk patient do this to me once... All the sober ones though were much more reserved! XD), you'd totally use something a little more tame, maybe even with a little base medical terminology on the side. What OP has said hasn't defeated his entire stance, he just prefers to use words with less vulgarity than those that are absolutely dripping with it D:.

Ha! I had to re-read that post, it made me chuckle.

There was an idea floating around of custom language filter entries; I'd totally like to take that up a notch and have SE allow us a completely separate chat filter to their built in one; that way we can add our own entries into it and leave the rest of the chat log (And Cal's serenading) untouched~

I don't use the ingame chat filter just because it is so awful, but I'd totally love a customizable one :3

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

The game, meaning the content and story, not the online content.

Online interaction is "Not Rated" or NR... which is usually considered worse that even an M or AO rating, similar to how bad credit is better than no credit.

Yes, it is. Ask any Credit Card company or Loan Officer. Between a customer with bad credit and one with no credit, they'll always favor the bad credit customer, and the bad credit customer stands a better chance of getting the loan or credit card than the no credit customer.

But in any case, I'm glad you get what I was saying. ^_^

It also has a "Bad language" warning.
    And an "unrated content" warning.

If you don't want your kids around "bad words" (which they already know anyways, if they are 13 and going to school...) don't let them play FFXIV.
If you yourself don't want to see "bad words", don't play a game with this kind of rating...

The filter is terrible, and should just be removed, not upgraded...

Thank you sir for this marvelous quote!

I don't use it either (because I'm not particularly bothered by cussing but mostly because I'm terribly curious and would spend far too long time trying to figure out what it was that had been censored XD), but that doesn't mean people who do use it should be ridiculed and told to 'grow up' =)

XD Have a like. Both because you made me smile and because I agree that a customizable filter is a good idea.

I would like a custom filter because there are certain slurs (not swears....slurs) that I would like edited out. Luckily I rarely encounter them but they still do show up from time to time. I have no issue with swearing which is why I do not use the filter. But slurs would be nice to filter out...
