I am not bashing anyone, I am expressing my opinion same as OP. As for my negativity, I don't believe I have been. It is the General Discussions forums is it not?

It is the discussion forums yes, not the argument forums. I don't believe anyone has any issues with you making your point, only how you go about making them. You don't see yourself as negative, but...

You roll your eyes, say the thread is annoying, insinuate the OP doesn't fit into society, that they're not grown up, and that they're being selfish and ridiculous and you suggest that if others don't like how you conduct yourself they're the ones that should leave. These are very negative things.

I find the title ironic. Crap may not be a "bad" word, but you (the OP) used it like it was. "Language Filter is Crap" instead of "Language Filter is Sh***". If you're against swearing, why didn't you title the thread something like, "The Language Filter is bad". I'm getting very mixed messages. tl;dr OP, you think swear words are bad, but it's okay to use other words to imply them? I'm actually very interested to hear your beliefs on this.

When it comes to the thread subject, I agree that the filter isn't very good and I wouldn't be against an update. I turned mine off, but only because it filtered the most random things.

To return to the original topic... I'd also like to point out how things that aren't cuss words get censored. For example, me and an FC member were goofing off some while back, and then he went "Cal is serenading me!" in FC chat, and then he went "Wait, what?" because he had the profanity filter on. And apparently that sentence got censored to "****renading me" or something. Took a bit of googling to figure out that it interpreted "cal is se" as a French profanity.

In my opinion, the filter should work on actual words, and if people circumvent those filters by adding spaces or full stops or other things ("100% handwor|<" springs to mind), they can and should be reported. Filtering out random combinations of non-profane words because they resemble profanity in another language is, as I see it, over the top. Especially if the filter at the same time doesn't catch the words that are intended as swearing.

Ha! I had to re-read that post, it made me chuckle.

There was an idea floating around of custom language filter entries; I'd totally like to take that up a notch and have SE allow us a completely separate chat filter to their built in one; that way we can add our own entries into it and leave the rest of the chat log (And Cal's serenading) untouched~

I don't use the ingame chat filter just because it is so awful, but I'd totally love a customizable one :3

I don't use it either (because I'm not particularly bothered by cussing but mostly because I'm terribly curious and would spend far too long time trying to figure out what it was that had been censored XD), but that doesn't mean people who do use it should be ridiculed and told to 'grow up' =)

Lol censorship has gotten out of hand especially the fourms. I called some one an entitlest and a troll and got a temp ban because someone created an rage/demand thread against se and yet not long ago seen another whom posted one yet again and a group of players called the ranter the same thing that I got banned for. Same for in game we have to walk on eggshells and speak with kids gloves as to not offed others and even with chat filters some one will be offended an the report others because they were offended. This is an rated teen not y7 most of us in game or on here are adults and why are little kids playing in the first place this game is complex and would explain Alexander floor 4 multiple wipes and its easy

I wonder, though, how many people responded like that because of OP's signature. The one that insults everyone who uses cuss words ever. While making a thread in which cuss words are the topic, allowing them to take him to task on his sh--sorry. 'Crappy' attitude toward other people that appears at the bottom of every post he makes.

There is no such thing as bad words. They are just words. The meaning behind them, however, can be good or bad depending on context and intent.

Also, you say you don't want to see the word "shit" but put the word "crap" in the title defeats your entire stance. They can, and often do, mean the same thing. Why is "crap" or "poop" acceptable, but not "shit"? The meaning is the same.
