Yesterday I joined the QQ parade, I put in my post and I was not happy. However, today I awoke with an idea (granted it probably won't be implemented and definitely not soon) , but I think it covers everything that SE wants to do PLUS gives the people who desire to craft the right gated platform.
- Step 1) Take the gating crafted item from Crafters/DoW/DoM different
- Step 2) Create an item that is crafted with Esoteric Items (I.E. purchased with Esoterics) and are untradeable/unsellable and purchasable a the same rate as the slot piece it would create 3 weeks for weapon 2 for body/leg etc.
- Step 3) This item could do one of two thing (not sure what is better)
- Add 4 Materia Slots to Law Left Side Gear (Upgraded) and 2 to Non-Upgraded Right side (Both still requires you to craft)
- Create an ilvl190 piece of left side gear and i180 right side
- Step 4 If you go with 1 then obviously this is an untradeable item and requires law/hunt marks/esoterics just to get 1 piece a week but its something(More on this later). If you go with 2 its sellable and I would make HQ and NQ stat equivalent and stats similar to upgraded law gear but HQ would have double the materia slots!
So you ask how would both work if the items to craft these are untradable/unsellable. The answer is that DoW/DoM could request a craft from a capable crafter similar to how we do materia melding. They would need to have the items on their character and request from a crafter cabable of making the item (so gotta have the right craftmanship/control). If you go the law gear materia route then crafters make money on tips etc. If you go the actual unique pieces (Item 2) then there might be a few pieces on the board a week but then the crafters themselves gate their own progression of their DoW/DoM class (no esoterics gear). Right side gear is i180 due to the power of adding Vit. There should be a small penalty in the stats you get since this allows you to get two main stats. I did this thinking of balance.
To make things fair SE could split the crafts so accordingly so that each craft can make some of the items. This way we a distribution of people able to do this (I.E. those that focus on specialization of certain crafts would not get left out, though culinary would be a tough one to justify for DoW/DoM gear lol).
There you have it SE. we are all gated/we have different items to choose from AND the gear crafted would only be better than Esoterics gear if you pentamelded it or until you get the Savage Alex Item/Upgrade item. We all win!
