4,700-5,400 Wildfires disagree with this assertion.
Luck factor aside, MCH seems to be in a good place right now.

You didn't see a thread about it because the players who actually took time to learn how to play the job right are doing just fine, and dealing good damage.
No, we're not the top DPS, but we're already proving much of the doomsaying and bad stigmas about us dead wrong. But hey, nice attention grab! Senpai notices you!
/dropmic

Just spent the last 4 hours on a training dummy practicing the proper rotation and learning gauss barrel stance dancing. If you are relying on the rng for your main dps then you are doing it wrong.
The procs need to last longer then 5secs..nothing like,
Split.....split...split...PROC!..boss jumps...damn it!

Generally speaking playing with competent players in Lv60 content I've never seen a MCH be anything other than last on DPS parses. :/ I highly doubt this is exclusively a player skill thing, MCH is likely in need of a buff or retooling.

at least we got combo, if you have tried BRD, they are not as fun as MCH GB while in their WM stance
if you are looking for MCH to do dps as DRG/MNK then you better start reroll to DRG/MNK, MCH dmg will never be the top, if they are then the other DPS much do something very wrong. MCH is just another BRD but different combat system

So why bring a MCH when a BRD is better in almost any situation? BRDs can still actually pull competitive numbers, from what I've seen, MCH can't.at least we got combo, if you have tried BRD, they are not as fun as MCH GB while in their WM stance

I've always seen MCH DPS open with a high burst, but by the end of an encounter they're usually 20-35% behind literally any other DPS. I still argue that they need adjustments.

All I see here is "But I want to just press 1-2-3 and do 1k+ dps!"
Mch is not as easy as 1-2-3... It's easy to mess up, and you get punished (lost dps) hard for making mistakes. (And if you had a lot of lag making the procs show up after / roughly same time as the GCD I feel sorry for you, truly. My heart goes out to you 'Straya...)
For the record, mch is fine. It's not meant to do perfectly played DRG numbers, but it does more than enough to warrant their slot. Is it top tier drg dmg, no. But it's very competitive. It really is, a case of git gud.
I've hit 6.2k in Alex (No ravana cheese), currently i176 / Ravabanana gun.

Cause most people mess up the 2nd Wildfire, forget to reaply Lead shot, don't maintain 100% uptime on hot shot... And / or are tunnel visioning on the 1-2-3 procs. I'm usually within at most 10% of any other DPS, except multi dotting SMNs because their AoE is retarded good right now.

I guess this wouldn't be the place to ask but I'd like to see some extended parses for MCHs claiming they're competing with other DPS. I'd love to be proven wrong, because I think the idea is great, it's just the current numbers speak ill tidings for our gun wielding friends.
