I am going to take this time to post to this thread. I have been running as an Astro since June 19th and as far as I can say I have had much fun with this job. I started out thinking it was tough to be an Astro, and today I look back on the first trial and error days of Astro and now believe I have this job on lock down so to speak. My over heal is somewhere in the 15% to 20% range.
I can keep up with every WHM/SCH I group with and often times am healing much better then they are. I have the card system figured out and while it is rng based it is highly useful in every single aspect in terms of every single piece of content I have come into contact with. I do not run out of mana even on the toughest fights. Often times I find myself dps'ing as my HoTs are more then enough to keep up with every single bit of content this game has to throw at us in terms of healing.
I can always account for bad dps and cover up the mistakes they make....I have brought many groups from the brink of failure, and I run a static with an astro/astro - drk/drk setup and we do just as well as any of the normal static comps out there. I should also note while it is easy to heal Astr/drk was the first to solo heal/tank RavEx. With that being said much of the feedback I have seen in regards to Astro healing is sub par at best. There is no indication in anyway shape or form that would suggest that astro's are not viable healers for the hardest content in this game (ie: savage)
So for those of you who are Astros to the core...stick with it. Deal with the you suck as an astro stuff, and ignore the WHM's/SCH's who say you are not a real healer or just back up. If anybody is interested in working with me, come to Balmung and I will prove every negative theory you have about Astro wrong.
tl:dr
Astro is fine and this is just my positive feedback in regards to Astro (keyword: opinion)
