As a previous main WHM, I can say firmly that AST is my new main, without question. It's a gorgeous class, and there are lots of little things that can be done with AST that you just can't do with other jobs. The emergency healing potential with three instacast spells (if your benefic II gets a combo) can take a tank from next to nothing to full and shielded or regened with next to no delay.
The only thing I could ask for that would make our job easily acceptable to those who are unwilling to see it as anything outside of whm or sch jr. would be sect dancing. Granted, we don't NEED it, we're amazing as it is, but that's not the point, no one sees ast as anything other than a poor replacement instead of looking at it as something new. Don't forget that people hated on scholar as just a glorified dps with some healing abilities. It took a while for people to learn the ins and outs of the job and they came to love it. AST time will come, buffs or no, we're already relevent, hang in there my fellow AST's!

I certainly enjoy AST. The card system provides a fun addition to healing and there are often times when I drop a Balance on a DPS I feel kind of like a commander giving the order to unleash hell.

I know that's doesn't really fit into the whole Fortune Teller vibe, but it still feels cool.

Overall, not looking at numbers or class balance, I feel like AST is great fun.

I was a bard and a whm in ffxi so I thought I'd continue that in ffxiv, but I got really bored of whm. I didn't like being a 'healbot'. So I was really excited when AST came along, and it didn't dissapoint.

AST is just fun. I enjoy busy gameplay and I love how busy it gets (probably why I got bored of whm). It's also one or the most aesthetically pleasing classes, I think malefic 2 is the best looking spell in the game. The card system is alot of fun, even if the whole thing feels completely useless.

It needs to be buffed big time, but that doesn't change the fact that it is by far the funnest healing class. I actually have fun healing now never thought I'd see the day.

AST was the sole reason I started playing this game. Who cares about all the whining and complaining? I'm enjoying the class and I will keep doing so for a long time. Now to just wait another week to get back from vacation so I can start throwing those stars around at people again! I'm absolutely in love with this class. One of my favourite healer concepts ever. Oh, and I'm totally gonna farm the Starcaller title.

I'm finding Astrologian such a brilliant emergency healer in 4 man dungeons, when all 4 players are brought to their knees, synastry, essential dignity and Benefic 2 and everyone is back up to full health And that's without factoring in HoT or any group heal spells.

I'm in love.

I will say that I do really like the AST job.
I LOVE the animations and the idea of the Job.
The skill curve is pretty large as well.

It just turns out that I'm terrible at it, so I'll stick with SCH and hope my AST partners are better at the class than I was.
I dont think its nearly as bad as is implied in the 15 other AST threads.
Its just pretty hard to play right.
