This drives me crazy...I get it that some people want to go in blind and learn mechanics. Not for me, but I truly understand why some want to go about it that way. But if that's the case, dont go in to a random PUG and then ask for directions. Either get a learning PT going or watch the video. You cant have it both ways.I do agree with this to a degree.
I fail to see the point of going into a duty and asking for mechanics to be explained. If you aren't going to do it blind, why go in and make people waste their time explaining when you could have watched a video without wasting anyone's time? If you want to go in blind, don't ask for mechanics. If you want an explanation, watch a video. Making people explain to you is pretty annoying.

Apparently they can. According to some people, it is a vets responsibility to write guides for newbies. It's "common decency" even. And it's okay to yell at vets, or even blame them for your mistakes, if they don't type up a (good enough) guide. I don't understand how this mentality came about. I'm not saying vets shouldn't type guides if they want to; I'm saying that newbies shouldn't feel entitled to them. Newbies should take responsibility for themselves. After all, if they had read a guide before entering then they may not have wiped the group.
Again, I have no problem whatssoever with anyone who wants to go in blind. But going in blind =/= asking for someone to type up a guide for you.

I wasn't begging them to teach me the fight. I was stating that I was new and was asking if there was anything I should watch out for. There's quite a difference between that and asking for every little thing to be explained. I'm also not mad that they didn't explain things. I'm mad that they kicked me after a single wipe because I didn't know all the mechanics beforehand, and misleading information was given in the run itself, (IE: Placing the 1 marker on the add, when adds are to be attacked separately).....

But that's the thing-- people don't always remember everything to watch out for. There are times when I have explained a fight to a friend and just plain forgotten a particular mechanic because I'd run the fight so many times that it was second nature to me. It's placing a rather large burden on the rest of the party to expect them to be able to explain how things work to someone else, especially because not everyone is good at that. I've seen people try to explain a fight only to have someone misinterpret what they said and do exactly the wrong thing.
Asking for explanations doesn't guarantee that the ones you get will be useful. Rather than expect someone else to explain things, you'd be better off just looking up a guide, which will also save time for the other people in the party.
Well, in this case, the player who tagged one of the adds with that [1] symbol was effectively telling them what to do but telling them the wrong thing. The OP followed the instructions that had been voluntarily given and was then kicked because those instructions were wrong. If they're supposed to split up onto different adds, then none of those adds should have been marked to indicate "everyone focus on this one first".

That's why I stay quiet when I do Alex. Even when I first stepped into t1, I was asked "Did you watch a video?". Like really? What is the point of playing when I could just watch a video? 'u' Wasting their monthly subscription honestly. Of course I didn't say anything. Unfortunately I did cause some wipes, but luckily I was with a good group. But I do agree with you. I mean it's understandable to watch a video for a difficult battle after getting some experience if you're not sure how to proceed, but I think it defeats the purpose of playing video games. Just my opinion on this..
It's almost like the duty finder is the wrong place for this kind of content! Even dumbed down it's bound to furstrate people to no end that they are going to be grouped with people they have no control over unlike a party finder where you can state your rules.
People will go in expecting to be carried
People will go in expecting people to know the fight by heart.
...I hate the duty finder.
INB4: You should of watched a video.
*Twiddles thumbs and waits.*
@Crimson: Yep just saw it.
Typical.
