No one left time for conversation. We wiped, we respawned, the tank immediately pulled. It was the third phase and the boss was down to ~15% HP. I thought we'd been doing okay, a wipe or two isn't the end of the world in a DF group.

    @healthetank

There was no A, B, or C on the field, and I didn't happen to get quarantined with this group. I helped with orbs, I didn't help with lasers because I thought that was covered.

Seriously, my point isn't IT WASN'T MY FAULT, WAHH, WHY ME. It very well could have been my fault. My point is that I don't even know what I did wrong, because rather than just say one little pointer between respawns, or even a simple "DRG needs to _____", or even a rude "DRG wiped us, stop _____ing" I got yelled at and immediately booted. That shouldn't be how you raid. If I really was messing up on a mechanic over and over, TELL ME SO I CAN FIX IT.

It seems you ran into a group of run-of-the-mill jerks. They abound. Luckily there are also still good people around.

Somethings can be learned as you go. But some insta kill mechanics are really annoying. Especially if it wipes the entire group. If you are going into difficult content, save the group a little hassel and look up some info. It's about being curteous to others. That's the way most people in XIV think that is. I know I sure as hell didn't go into Bismark EX without some references. Even in a learning party.

But you went in on a DF group. Don't sweat it and just reque up again and learn the fight. Move on.

But still, sorry about your fusterations.

I think part of the problem is that only two out of eight can even get any loot, increasing frustration of the content.

I don't understand why people can't be bothered to watch a video. It just works better then someone typing it in chat. It also shows consideration for others.

A few of us have said it now but somehow the point keeps getting skipped or people just don't seem to see it. No one here is saying that its ok to go in blind with no preparation. We are trying to bring a point to the negativity that is going around about kicking people and being rude to anyone that doesn't meet your requirements of "don't waste our time", which by the way can mean pretty much anything. People are getting kicked for simply not knowing mechanics because they have not been able to actually experience the fight and get enough practice with said mechanic.

Just watching a video alone does not guarantee that you can pass it whenever it happens. We as a community need to start understanding that just because you are a "vet" of that particular fight does not mean that others can not make mistakes. Stop hiding behind your wall of ignorance and arrogance by claiming people are "wasting your time" your playing a game, You are already wasting your own time.

Actually, several people in this thread have said exactly that. One even said he turns off his chat box to avoid "mechanics spoilers" when queueing into the fight for the first time. It's kind of rude to the other seven people, honestly. I understand that it isn't the norm, but with the mixed bag that is Duty Finder, you never know what you're going to end up with. If seven people are on the same page and one person is holding them back due to not wanting the encounter "spoiled" for them, you eventually get to a point where you either kick or vote abandon.

Most people don't have a problem at least giving a basic run-down of mechanics in a duty finder encounter. However, there are those that don't want explanations, those that don't listen to explanations, and those that say they don't need explanations but really do. It takes all kinds, I guess.

Having to explain a mechanic someone doesn't know or doesn't understand isn't a waste of time. As long as you're learning and moving toward clearing the encounter, it's at least progress. Having someone repeatedly mess up the same mechanic despite explanations is a waste of time, though. As far as the game itself, I don't see the game as a waste of my time at all. It's something I enjoy doing. Teaching people content is also something I enjoy doing. Beating my head senselessly against unwinnable encounter is not something I enjoy doing.

    Exactly this.

Just last night we were doing A1. The BRD in the group said it was his first time. I promptly explained to him that you have to kill the adds under the laser beams, not just kill the adds anywhere. And what does he do? Kill the adds and prevent people from getting them under the laser beams. Someone initiated a vote kick and it failed, so half the group just left.

In another group, I specifically said save Limit Break for after you kill the first copy of the boss, because as soon as one dies, it starts a self-destruct. And what does one of the DPS do? Yeah, they can't help themselves and use LB when one copy is low and there's not enough time to burn the other, so we wipe.

So not only do people come in blind, but they refuse to listen to explanations. That's unacceptable.

Currently the situation is exactly like how ff11 was, you either know what you're doing, and are welcomed, or you are a noob scrub and are never invited to groups and people are warned about you.

before it was 2 wipes per vote abandon, now it's getting to the 1 wipe area.

You either suck or you are good, and it's exceedingly noticeable if you suck ( only 8 player groups in df etc )
