People who tested it say in the same party MCH/BRD's LB does 10-20% less damage than caster's 'circle' AOE. Why it does less damage than caster's LB when it covers less area with it's 'straight line'?

Because you're a ranged DPS, you're not allowed to ever do damage.
Be thankful they bothered giving ranged physical DPS a damage limit break, they could of easily just left it how it was.
As it stands, unless you have two ranged physical DPS, there's no reason to ever use the new LB. I've found myself missing the old BRD healer LB a couple times now, as it would at least have some use when the healer bites it and there's no SMN.
You will get to use your ranged LB only in PvP or in case that there is no melee or mage in dungeon.
Sad story.
Healer break is better for raids though. It'd rarely be used, but when it is it matters. If the line is weaker than the caster break it has no use at all.
That is taking numbers people are quoting as fact anyway.
Huh, really? I would have thought it would do more damage because it covers a smaller area.
