    It's ridiculous how often you fall through the terrain in this game. I never had it happen in XI but I've lost count how many times it's happening in XIV. Must be in the dozens. Usually happens because you run through a cliff or staircase before the model has loaded.

    But weather is terrible for me in this game. It lags my computer so bad I can't browse the web sometimes when out on the field with weather. But that's mostly FireFox being a PoS.

    You have no clue how the engine is designed, only what is being displayed
    You set the drawing distance(which will still apply if you fall through)
    In this case it would only be rendering it since your client if out of bounds.
    imagine most games a god-mode where you can fly out of tge map

    Theres also a mapping technique that lets you do 3d sky boxes small off map render, and appear much bigger around(essentially what those areas are, blocked off sections)

    You mean like in some games when you use a no-clipping cheat then when you pass through wall/floor/ceiling and look back at where you were you can't see the wall you past through, only things inside the room?

    yes, and with terrain the way it is you could have a simple png file to define depth in white<->black, and have the engine map texture based on that and other parameters. theres just no telling unless you know someone whos worked with CT, its a guessing game. but I doubt this is an issue.

    yes with deductive reasoning you can very easily see there is no grand height to those original airships(not those new ones floating around)
    you can also see they give order of importance what is displayed first with the order things pop in. the terrain typically being top priority minus the occasions you can sometimes see through it for whatever error(rare?)

    I noticed it was doing that too; I wonder how much of a performance hit that sea is.

    wow this sucks, i heard the FPS issues in uldah also have something to do with rendering the terrain outside at the same time or something while most games dont?
    not a programmer but it sounds about right to me. it kinda sucks
