    I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

    While this thread may not be a great way to represent our collective desire, I believe what most people want to know is...

    Does the Original Post have a valid claim; Does the game render more than it needs to?

    If the game renders more than it needs to, does it have a large impact on performance?

    If it does have a large impact on performance, is this going to be addressed? How? When?

    Well said sir. The fact that the sea is rendered already when you fall or get the camera to go out of bounds is a pretty sure sign it's extra weight on the GPU to some unknown extent, especially when you compare the Crysis 2 situation.

    One can only hope that with the overworld redesigns coming, they'll take these issues into account.

    But who are we kidding? FFXI is STILL an unoptimized train wreck, and one need only waltz through the ToAU areas to understand why.

    It's ridiculous how often you fall through the terrain in this game. I never had it happen in XI but I've lost count how many times it's happening in XIV. Must be in the dozens. Usually happens because you run through a cliff or staircase before the model has loaded.

    But weather is terrible for me in this game. It lags my computer so bad I can't browse the web sometimes when out on the field with weather. But that's mostly FireFox being a PoS.

    You have no clue how the engine is designed, only what is being displayed
    You set the drawing distance(which will still apply if you fall through)
    In this case it would only be rendering it since your client if out of bounds.
    imagine most games a god-mode where you can fly out of tge map

    Theres also a mapping technique that lets you do 3d sky boxes small off map render, and appear much bigger around(essentially what those areas are, blocked off sections)

    You mean like in some games when you use a no-clipping cheat then when you pass through wall/floor/ceiling and look back at where you were you can't see the wall you past through, only things inside the room?
