Who's the best PuG hero?

I don't really plan on doing anything hardcore or joining a dedicated free company, so I want to know who's the best healer for saving random strangers in DF?

Part of me says WHM because of their extremely high healing potential, but the other part of me says SCH for the infinite mana that I might need to pic peolpe off the floor.

What do you guys think?

I love how ASTs are not even an option. It's true though. IMO WHM Benediction is amazing in a pinch!

I am a scholar and can safe raids/dungeons best on it. But I can also soloheal a lot on WHM/AST if situation turns to that.
Imho it all depends on the person playing. Scholar is my life hence my best class, others are born for WHM and heal the shit out of what you had considered a wipe.
I agree AST is still lacking but it will catch up soon.

If you're only looking to play casually any class will do really. I'd suggest just trying each different class and see which you enjoy the most. I'm personally in love with astro and have not encountered any issues with casual healing. The playstyle between the three healers differs enough to make them very different styles of playing so I really reccomend just trying each of them to your liking. They will all work fine for keeping those random groups up, assuming they aren't suiciding into bad stuff.

A skilled SCH has more tools to save the day now, mainly thanks to the fact that a lot of his/her skills are instant (and of course the fairy is a big help).
WHM is better tho if you have to heal like crazy because other players don't know how to dodge aoes. It just has a higher sustained healing potential.

Well anyone can be the PuG hero really if they know the instance and they know their class. The real question is just how you want to play. The three Healer options have different play styles that suit different people although some can play all of them well. AST and SCH are pretty similar just AST leans more on the support side than SCH does and SCH is a pet class if you are into that sort of thing. WHM and SCH the difference is WHM does a few big heals that cost a lot of mana while SCH will does lots of little heals for much less mana drain. If you're into support roles pick AST if you like lots of damage mitigation pick SCH. If you want to pump out huge heal numbers pick WHM.

Being able to throw an Aldo on a DPS and top him off with Lustrate when you know he's about to eat an AoE is pretty fantastic. On WHM it requires slightly less awareness, but you can still carry quite a bit and have more potential for comebacks when things get messy.

SCH can do that just as well by using succor > indo > emergency tactics > succor... and everyone is at full hp again
