I wear STR rings and that's it. I also divided my VIT/STR attributes to 15 each and I have over 12k HP and I have no problem. I rarely get dropped (only happens when a healer is downed, obviously,) and I can pull mad chunks of hate even with MNK, NIN, or BLM spamming whatever. It works for me, might not work for some. Still, I'm happy with my build.
In some cases yes it does. How many times have you wiped in DF due to poor performance by people who are "Playing Their character how they want" whether it be poor DPS or failure to do mechanics. with the excuse "I pay a monthly sub ill play how i want" it's more common then you'd believe this forum is in fact the best place for said attitude. Everyone when it comes to this MMO has an "I'm entitled" attitude you see it everyday here how many threads do you see where someone says SE do this or i quit?

Not sure, never asked them, but it always appeared they were doing their job. Many people will at least stick to the role requirement of their job. When I see people calling out other tanks because they are using VIT acc only, and in fact I have been too, been told that I must suck because I use VIT acc. Which in fact in my first post in this thread way back on page one I clearly stated I use both, I will take offense and defend people and myself for doing what their job's primary purpose is.
in that case you just pointed out yes whoever said those things to you was a jerk. Are you playing your job correctly? Yes but at the same time do you ask yourself what can i do better? this whole argument over ACC is honestly dumb and pointless its a personal Preference for tanks some Tanks like to just stand there with 20k HP taking damage like they're ment to and you know what good for them they're not doing anything wrong but if i can do the same thing without harm or foul with 4k less HP and doing an extra 200-300 DPS im going to its all about your preference. Not sure, never asked them, but it always appeared they were doing their job. Ok, there is so much stupid in this line of thinking that I just can't let this one go.Not? More DPS is faster...honestly how hard is that to understand? There is no set in stone amount of time that is "fast". Everyone in our group is expected to push out as much DPS as possible. We could clear every fight just fine with the tanks in vit gear and tank stance. That would be inefficient, slower, and boring though.
For the sake of argument, let's say a dungeon run takes 30 minutes to pull off for a group with a VIT tank. We're going to make some very generous assumptions in your favor, despite how ridiculous we all know they are:
1) It's 30 minutes of non-stop damage dealing to clear the dungeon.
2) Each member of the four-man team is responsible for one-quarter of that damage (dream on), making the tank's role a vital cog in this damage dealing machine.
3) Your STR tank can deal twice as much damage as a VIT tank.
Thus our VIT tank can, AT BEST, be credited with 450 seconds worth of damage dealing time. If we replace him with your STR tank, we shave (AT BEST) 225 seconds of time off that run. Thanks to the STR tank we have turned our 30 minute dungeon run into 26 minute and 15 second dungeon run. Break out the champagne, everyone.. we're having a party!
Of course, again, this also assumes that:
1) ..the group was fighting the entire time and not actually having to move between encounters (since STR or VIT differences are meaningless when traveling between encounters).
2) ..that your STR tank is actually dealing twice the damage of the VIT tank, which is debatable.
3) ..that a tank is contributing to the damage total as much damage as any other member of the group, including your DPS, which is laughable (and, by the way, that contribution of the STR tank gets even worse in an eight-man group with a single tank slot).
4) ..and that your STR tank didn't cause a wipe by sacrificing one-quarter of his potential health for every encounter across the entire dungeon in exchange for shaving 3 minutes and 45 seconds of killing off your 30 minute run (which gets even funnier with shorter runs). You killing machine.
Oh, I'm sold. Sign me up.Yeah, "faster is faster", as you like to say. And riskier is riskier. What's your point?

We can't even really discuss this topic properly without official and sanctioned dps monitoring tools, whether from SE or through third party addons. This game needs a way for people to be able to measure contribution.
From my point of view, 3.0 is toothless right now when it comes to difficult content; so Tanks are whipping out STR accessories since there's nothing to worry about, no savage mode that gates them behind a hp, ilevel requirement, etc. I see no harm in any tank carrying both a STR and VIT set for diversity sake, and I do see issues with the community trying to stunt the metagame behind it. If you can survive any hit, you know your cooldown rotations, and you understand the fight, let the tank wear dps accessories so the fight goes quicker.
