thats exactly the point why this thread got to 37 pages

it wouldnt have gone so far if *some* people would not try so hard everytime here on the forums trying to boost theyre ego with killing something fast :P if you do it for your own satisfaction its fine really , calling someone mediocre or whatever using vit gear is not gona make it better :P

in fact this game is not called FFXIV : A SpeedRun Reborn XD , its just a game and the people i play with want me actually to use vit gear as tank , because its actually my role :P

A fast kill more due to the fact that the healers are dpsing and they are single tanking the fight. Most pug Ravana ex people double tank and the healers don't dps.

Bold is why it's gone 37 pages. "The people i play with want me to use vit gear" is a perfectly lovely reason to use vit (or str). It's the stricken part that has perpetuated this and other threads so far. Your friends want you to wear vit so you wear vut. Good for you. That doesn't make str "wrong". It is not a tanks role to stack HP. Their role is to mitigate party damage. This is done by maintaining monsters attention and mitigation the damage directed at them. A tanks "job" isn't to have ad much HP as possible. Keep threat, mitigate damage is the purpose of a tank.

That's like saying a whm "role" is to have as much mp as possible. Mp doesn't make a healer heal harder just as hp doesn't mitigate damage or generate threat.

That's my point. You are taking your group and saying everyone must be like you, but how is that a better argument than "my group wants str tanks so everyone should be like me"? You can't say that you are right because it's what you do then say others are wrong for what they do. It's hypocrisy. You're group PREFERS vit tanks. That doesn't make str tanks wrong. Preference isn't right or wrong.

These threads continue because people are propogating rightness and wrongness to an aspect of the game where that is determined by skill and preference. If you and your group are skilled enough you can wear more str, and even prefer it. There's nothing wrong with that. Lucrezia with str tanks doesn't somehow devalue vit tanks everywhere. They can both coexist. Everyone doesn't have to be like 'your group'. They aren't your group.

You conveniently forgot the vit heros screaming str tanks aren't tanks. Vit is life. Life is tank. Tank is vit. Repent ye str heathens and accept the one true stat into your heart as is your role!

Str or die crowd: relax. We know it's the optimal way to play, but it also has a minimum group skill threshold many groups don't have. It's great to aspire to, but don't force it. Not everyone can handle the power (of str).

Vit or die crowd: quit with your 1 dimensional view of tanking. It's narrowminded and ignorant. There is no holy book of tank the decrees all shall wear vit because "it's tank gear and tank is the name of your role".

Reasonable human beings in the middle that realize group dynamics and skill determine how to gear: Thank you. You get it.
