I'd take Neverreap all day long as a WHM. Maybe using a gamepad makes movement a little easier, so it doesn't bother me as much?
Agreed. Personally, I enjoy Neverreap much more than Fractal. I enjoy the environment and the mechanics more in Neverreap. I've never really thought it went any slower. Now, of course some DF parties can make it harder or slower, but it's rare. 9 times out of 10 I'll choose NR over FC, but that's just me.

To be honest, there's much that I like about the dungeon. All the environmental effects and claustrophobia is used really well to stir up a teams coordination. This is probably the one main thing that makes it different from most others. If I am 100% comfortable, I am 100% bored.

They also recycled the fall-off possibility which until now had only ever been seen in trials which was a nice touch. (Part of me wants to see this as a normal part of the dungeons combat rather than in being restricted to one boss fight just to keep an ever-present fear high)

There are very few optional mobs (only a few patrollers but it's unreasonable to expect to skip them in pugs) so whether or not you're a player of speed or completionism, there's very little to argue about.

The only thing I don't like is its aesthetic and placement within the game. It does NOT bear the look of an endgame dungeon at all. If it was the first or second dungeon of the expansion, it could have slotted in really well. You've got Aetherochemical Research Facility and Fractal Continuum, both introducing you to the epic and unusual; and then beside it you have Neverreap which has you fighting familiar, neither ancient nor non-sentient enemy types on floating islands which are slightly more beautified and far less explorable than the ones in the Sea of Clouds.

Even though I think it's one of the stronger ones in terms of gameplay, your task and your setting both feel marginally underwhelming. It even has a weaker soundtrack (though the music in HW is so consistently great that it's forgiveable).

This dungeon is hell for monks, all the boss mechanics make you have to break off several times....

Just tanked it for the first time. I don't hate it, but I didn't enjoy it either. A lot of the DF dps is overgeared for the place now, and that makes it stressful for a new 60 trying to gear up.

As a WHM I have no trouble personally with Neverreap. I can get my cast's off between tornado's on the last boss by just sprinting now and then and he doesn't hit too hard. Only issues I've had are with tanks falling off on that boss and usually it only happens once.

Well...a lie I guess. I do have problems but it isn't the dungeons fault. Mostly its under geared/strength speced tanks with 12k life that try to do speed runs. Those trash packs hit pretty hard and I've had some issues where I would go oom during pulls because if I stop casting cure II /ever/ the tank is at 25% health in a heart beat and I have to blow cooldowns to pull them out of the fire. But when running with a tank that knows his/her limits its a pretty quick run and not really challenging. If anything I'd say its way easier than Fractals which I wasn't expecting going into it.

I get this dungeon all the time, most of the time I never even get Fractal. I have a running joke in my FC about changing the name of the dungeon to AlwaysReap. >_<

We call it EverWeep because our BLM always cries about his rotation at the bosses. xD

I've been disliking it less and less as I have been finding opportunities to do the rotation.

The first boss is of medium difficulty when using the BLM rotation. Just wait til it goes into its shadow phase and then nail it with Fire IVs when you find the shadow. After it goes back to normal you have a bit to do the rotation before another shift. Refresh enochian(either bliz IV or the skill itself) before the shadow dies or you will lose it when the boss returns.

Second boss can be hard to do it, or really easy. If he marks you at the beginning, hold off on enochian. Always go full on the rotation on the boss when he marks someone else AND the resulting field surrounds some totems that are nearest to another player(except the tank). To clarify, if you know you don't have to move a totem, focus on the boss.

Last boss, forget it. Just do the 2.0 rotation. What people don't notice I think, is every time you get hit with a tornado, the boss gets an evasion stack.

I was wondering why I would occasionally be missing more than normal.. Always misses when he gets that shroud and starts roaming around, but never looked at the stacking buff description. Good to know xD

That being said, I cringe a little bit every time Neverreap pops in DF. It doesn't seem as bad now as it did at first, fractal is just faster and less complicated (seemingly, at least)

I can see it being annoying for BLM, as a NIN I don't mind the dungeon at all it is interesting enough, although I prefer Fractal.
