But yeah, sometimes players just...WILL NOT get something no matter how many times or how nicely it's explained. Friend had an Ifrit story mode run that I had the pleasure of watching in his room. He was a ninja doing a low lvl roulette. Their Gladiator wouldn't use Savage Blade, their Conjurer wouldn't dodge a single Eruption, and their Thaumaturge wouldn't target the Nail. They wiped five or six times before my friend just threw up his hands and bailed.

I seriously don't know how these kinds of things happen.
As I was leveling AST I had a story Ifrit run with a bot tank.

    He died.

I proceeded to tank. As the healer.

He tickles. Told DPS to get the nail and we won. No issues.

As a healer, I have little tolerance for hot-dogging, meathead tanks who take off in sub-50 dungeons thinking they're Superman, Leeroying their way past enemies, and thinking I'm going to heal them through 15-20 monsters (all of you clowns in Dzemael Darkhold know who you are). I have even less tolerance for tanks who run off at the mouth after they get people killed with this nonsense.

But its pretty easy to heal a full pull of Dzemael Darkhold first room? A decent tank wont even dip below 50% hp most of the time assuming you esuna the vulnerability debuff.
Unless someone is vastly under-geared that pull is text book and is one of the few times you actually get a reasonable amount of damage come in at low levels.
I've healed it multiple times with multiple different tanks and as both WHM and SCH.

If they did something somewhere else I would agree the tank was in the wrong but I would try and heal through it anyway as you will run into it later and I'd rather have the practice.

If they die they die so long as they don't try the exact same pull again its no biggie, tried something it didn't work you learn from it. The amount of times I've seen tanks do a big pull and die due to too much damage and then immediately quit however outweigh the times I've seen healers not even attempt to heal a big pull.

But I'm not trying to tell you how to play and can understand how it could be a annoyance.

But I think its pretty standard practice at this point.

Thanks to some abysmal runs in the World of Darkness today which all resulted in vote abandons after spending over half an hour wiping on Angra Mainyu, my tolerance for anyone who doesn't listen to repeated instruction is now gone. It didn't help that there was a language barrier in place, and the French players who were causing the wipes kept speaking in French when they could clearly communicate in English. I never want to put up with that again, and I will make sure to remove problem players before they waste the time of the entire party from now on.

My tolerance is usually pretty high, but it depends on what specifically the person is doing, and what role they're in. Most of the time I just bear through it and try to do whatever I can to compensate. There are a few exceptions though....

    Tank:

    1) Only focusing on a single target and letting the healer get swarmed by the adds, (particularly annoying to me in dungeons past about level 30 or so, where they should know how to tank by then).....

    2) Doing big pulls before asking if the healer is okay with it, only to wipe and blame the healer.....

    Healer:

    1) Focusing so much on DPSing that they only heal the tank and other players die as a result, or are perpetually left in "one hit and they're dead" status. The worst part about these kind of healers is that they then proceed to blame everyone else should that person die, even if they weren't doing their job of healing as, well, a healer....

    2) Not healing status effects, even when the party is at full health. This one isn't as big of a deal most of the time, but there have been a few times where I've either died, or have watch other players die simply because the healer wouldn't cure them of a status effect like paralysis or heavy that was preventing them from dodging. I've healed before, so I am fully aware that sometimes you simply don't have a chance to cure statuses, but most healers seem completely unaware that they even can do so to begin with. I've had times where I was telling new healers in SV to be sure to cure the paralysis the last boss can inflict when he jumps into the sky, because it can prevent people from dodging. More than a few have said, "Oh, I forgot I can do that, lol." There's just no real excuse for it. Especially when silence and paralysis, (which are the two most common status effects aside from poison from what I can tell), can take SMNs and BLMs out nearly completely until it wears off...

    DPS:

    1) Complaining that a run is going "too slow" when they themselves are putting out a poor performance. As a DPS myself, I can tell when the other DPS, (particularly in a Light Party), is doing a poor job. I'm fine with that. I'm not a speed runner, so I just go along with however fast it's going, while putting out the same DPS I always do. I'm not fine when such a player is complaining that the run is going too slow and accuses me of needing to step up what I'm doing damage wise....

    2) Blaming the other players for the wipe when they personally refuse to target adds. Whether it's instant kill ones such as Ifrit's nails, or just damaging/debilitating ones such as the adds in the Siren fight in Pharos Sirus, if the boss fight has adds that need to die, they should take priority the moment they spawn with few exceptions....

    General:

    1) Blaming other players for problems without even considering that it might be your own fault.....

    2) Blaming the DPS on being too slow no matter what the actual wipe reasons were, (see Kikoten's post).....

    3) Voting to kick a player based purely on their class, without seeing how well they actually preform....

    4) Blaming a problem on whichever player is the easiest target to do so, when there isn't really any "one" person to blame, (IE: Blame a problem on a person based on class, or because they didn't use a specific skill, or even something as simple as them speaking another language)......

    5) Claiming that you "need" a run more than the rest of the people in the party, so they should leave so you can get "good" players in. This is mostly related to one particularly bad tank I got the first time I ran Keeper of the Lake, (I've told the story in a few threads and don't feel like repeating it).......

    6) Pulling a boss before everyone is ready, especially in dungeons where someone is new and other players are trying to explain the mechanics to them....

And that's pretty much it honestly. So long as you're not just trolling everyone and causing wipes, if you're not playing the blame game and are at least trying to do your part in the run then I'll practically let you get away with murder. I might be trash talking you behind your back in another chat, but I won't vote to kick you or vote to abandon the run unless it gets truly excessive, and I'll still say thank you for the run once it's done.....

When I was lvling DRK I df'd into...Stone Vigil coincidentally. And coincidentally, it was the WHM who wouldnt learn. It was his first time in there, but he had lvl 50 whm. I thought, maybe he's a 1.0 player...but that doesnt explain how he doesnt understand what esuna is, and he still would have had to go through several dungeons to reach that point. When I checked him, he had 30 ACN too, so he'd been playing various classes since 2.0 was out.

I tried to split up every group of trash I possibly could to make it as easy on the WHM as possible. We wiped several times on the first boss, because the WHM wasnt moving for swinge. Second boss I think we just brute forced our way through, the dps blew everything they had on that to kill it before I died. Final boss...oh god, that final boss. The WHM just couldnt get out of aoes. I kept trying to be positive, giving advice, typing in chat to give warnings when to be prepared to move. I started to wonder if the WHM was a bought character, he didnt seem to understand the job at all, and when I looked at him, he had all other jobs at either 30 or 15 specifically. We kept making more attempts, and by the end of it I was beginning to wonder if the WHM was intentionally pretending to be bad and trying to troll. On one attempt when we did get past 50%, I saw him get hit by an aoe, then come stand in front of the dragon with me, get hit by more aoe, and just run back and forth without ever healing himself or me. Of course, he died, then I died. By now we had about 8 minutes left on the clock, was thinking its enough time for one last attempt, I really should kick the healer and get someone in but I feel awful about booting new people who need something for storyline. But then he went offline, one of the DPS said their gear was broken now anyway and left, and the last decided it wasnt worth waiting for another healer, when by the time we got one we wouldnt have enough time to beat it probably.

Was the one time I decided to do a dungeon without my AST duo partner, and after that I havent done a dungeon without him ): (healer was my first main, so I had plenty of experience with it. I'd also leveled pld long before so I also knew just fine how to tank SV).

So there's my tolerance level I suppose. Im far too patient for my own good ):

I have zero tolerance for tanks that are so much in a hurry that I can't buff everyone especially before a boss fight. The buff's are there so I don't have to dump my mp to keep it alive. So I let the pt wipe and the press macro. Tank in a hurry than I am not in a hurry to heal you. It's so entertaining to watch bodies hit the floor over and over

You ask for a regen before a pull? Are you sure that perhaps you arent the new player here?

And you tell a white mage not to spam Cure I. You realise this is to save mp?

I guess your tolerance level isnt very high if you get mad at a new player after giving him bad advice.

Here is how you do it:
If you ask if someone is new, and someone says yes.
Then your tolerance level should be maximum.
That means no complaining, no moaning. No omg-wt-f-are-you-doing.
You play the game and try to help the new guys.

Who knows, they might actually thank you for helping them out and commend you. And the rest of the group will be amazed at your helpful nature and commend you too.

You are allowed one sigh at the end of the dungeon (natural or expired) to give voice to your relief or frustration. That's all.

Um... it's Stone Vigil, Cure II always heals for low amounts there. Bad idea to use that as a measuring stick, since it's only natural that people who aren't overgeared for the content will naturally have a lower damage or healing threshold. As a tank, it's your job to anticipate that. Having regens certainly would have helped, but a lot of healers at this level are still getting used to the job and don't fully understand how it all works together.

In this instance though, I think your anger was justified. Some people just refuse to take in the mechanics of their job. Whether it's a tank who doesn't actually tank, or a healer not making full use of her skills. I think my patience would have run out at the same time yours did, if not sooner. There's only so many times you can explain something to someone who doesn't want to learn.
