Unless there is a part of History missing about Hydaelyn and Zodiark that no one, even the Ascians, know about.

A part of the Hydaelyn and Zodiark lore that has been bothering me even now is that it feels like there is a piece of history missing from the World.

The Ascians keep say the original world was a world ruled by Zodiark while the people we know keep saying that the world has always been ruled by Hydaelyn.

Not to mention it seems Urianger may know something that we do not nor the Black Robe Ascians since Elidibus may have told Urianger something that would determine the fate of the world as a whole judging by what Eldibus said to Urianger. Maybe affecting the fate of both Hydaelyn and Zodiark.

After all Elidibus said "I would speak of fate, Archon. Yours, mine - the fate of this very star."

I feel the same way. I have ever since I carefully listened to Ramuh's talk of "duality" and how the world "wasn't always this way". The subtle hints in his words seemed to slip passed a lot of people's notice.

There's definitely more to the story of Hydaelyn and Zodiark, and the world itself, than we know.

With quite a few people talking about wod and wol opening up world pvp that will never happen. At most you will get a new pvp bone thrown at you every year to try to attract the minority player vs player crowd. You can walk away with your swan and goat themed outfits but 99% of the player base will most likely pretend pvp doesnt exsist.

why does it have to be open world pvp again? why wouldn't it just be 2 alliances (WoD vs. WoL) similar to Frontlines?

Like I said when correcting someone earlier, FFDimensions have both Dark and Light warriors playable and (correct me if I'm wrong) neither are considered good or bad. Also, FF3 clearly shows that WoD are simply the opposite polarity of WoL who's goal is to prevent their world from RIP.

If SE (who I have little faith in for advanced story telling) went the "choose a side" route it will grant players some diversity in how they experience Eorzea, WoW inspired pvp, and a chance to FEEL like you are in control of your character's destiny.

It could be like Astral and Umbral Eras. One sleeps while the other rules until the aether current changes. Some how summoning primals disrupts the aetheric flow and help awaken Zodiark. Midgardsormr came to the world and some how stop this flow at some point in time. Ascian have been causing Umbral Era trying to change the flow back in favor of Zodiark.

Sorry for going off-topic for a moment, but I've got to ask as this has been on my mind for months now... what anime is your sig for? I got to know! It's an anime from the 80's and 90's, right? Going by the style but I don't know what anime it is from! Please tell me Dyvid! This is driving me nuts! XD

And back on topic... it's true there's some missing information about Hydaelyn and Zodiark. Perhaps they were once one entity or both of them co-exist and rule together to keep balance in the world, there can be no light without darkness, and darkness exist without light. Same sides of the same coin really.

Makes me wonder what the world was like back then before it became what it is today in the game's story.

The Warriors of Darkness, that appeared in Final Fantasy III, were the "dark" counterparts to the Warriors of Light. Just as the Warriors of Light had to combat the darkness to keep their world from being engulfed by it, the Warriors of Darkness had to battle the light to keep their own world from being engulfed by it. The Warriors of Darkness in Final Fantasy III explained that "Wherever Light and Darkness meet, they cancel each other out and nothing is left to remain. That is the void." So, to stop the Cloud of Darkness (which had consumed too much at the hand of their own actions) they united with the Warriors of Light to defeat her. However, they couldn't save their own world by that point, so they sacrificed themselves to save the world of the Warriors of Light.

I think The Ascians are trying to balance Light and Dark to completely open The Void. I think that's where Zodiark resides.

The WoD doesn't have to be our clones. It can just as well be the choosing of other adventurers. Rather than the usual npcs though, it be a nice twist to have them be from the playable characters we either know or are on our server.

If there was a choice provided it should come with information as to what the wod does, and i think we'll get more info on that in future patches.

Iwouldn't be surprised if both hydelyn and zodiark were two sides of a very large coin: huge entities that, for all their talk of creation and balance, actually works for its own existence. Not saying they bad, more that they are manipulators, and their goals doesn't necessitate our happiness or prosperity.

In other words,a problem of perspective. Their(hydelyn and zodiark) concerns are not ours, and victory could prove bad for us, yet not for them.
