I don't have dps parses but people say shield swipe is a dps loss and it's 10 less potency than fracture. So i'm pretty confident fracture is too. Even if somehow it's not, 80 tp for 220 potency isn't worth it at all. So yeah you're right about it eating tp. Even though there's not much else I don't even keep it cross classed.

PLD is the Grand Daddy of tanks for 3.0 and every skill they got was a welcomed addition to their arsenal. Their rotation is far more interesting instead of being 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> repeat like it was in 2.0

    PLD rotation is as follows

FoF/BB -> Enimty skill of your choice* -> Spirits Within -> Fast Blade -> CoS* -> Riot Blade -> Sheltron** -> Goring Blade -> Fast Blade -> Savage Blade -> RoH -> Fast Blade -> Savage Blade -> Royal Authority -> Repeat while using CoS/SW and Defensive CDs off GCD.

*If you used CoS as an opener your doing it wrong.
** If your still having trouble solidifying agro at this point throw out the Shield Swipe you get from Sheltron after Goring Blade and do this only at the start of the rotation. If thats still not enough then do RoH combo first instead of Goring.

This opener is slightly off. You don't want to use FoF and BB before the engage. You use it after the lob. Also, delaying the CoS 2 GCDs after the FoF and using it after SW means you will not fit 2 into the duration of 1 FoF unless you have skill speed on your gear and you ideally shouldn't. You won't get 2 SWs in 1 FoF so using it before CoH has no upside.

Yes, Fracture is a DPS loss in the end, and big TP drain. The reason why Shield Swipe is good though is for the TP maintenance. Half the TP of Fracture while only 10 potency less. The ideal number of Shield Swipes per 3 hit rotation is 2 for a 10 minute fight, as this will allow you to preserve your TP pool through out the 10 minute fight with no waiver in your DPS. It equates to the highest possible potency output in fact over never using it or just using it once per 3 hit combo for a 10 minute fight. However, this is assuming there are no points in the fight that you're not doing damage, and getting 2 Shield Swipes per 3 hit combo is difficult sometimes. 1 Shield Swipe per combo is fairly normal though, and with just one, you'll not run out of TP for about 5 minutes and 30 seconds. But not using it at all means a total TP loss in about 3 minutes.
