This is a system that definitely needs to happen, releasing houses that haven't had the owner login after a certain amount of time has passed. Send them all their furnishings in the mail if they ever come back.

That's unfortunate, it's definitely something that should be implemented.

There is no reason to have a transfer system, the people who already have a house will more than likely have enough money to buy stuff again and lets be honest we need to have these players spend to level out the market playing field.

I've never gotten a house myself and been sitting on my gil for so long now I'm at 30 million just doing PvE.

It is a clear favor to those who already own a house, only allowing current home owners first dibs in Ishgard. Not surprising since housing is one of the most unfair things SE has rolled out thus far.

What hinder a player wihout a house, but with enough gil to buy a house, to buy a plot before someone transfer to the plot? On some servers it will be still a "who is there within the first 10 minutes" thing even without the transfer.
Also with every transfer a plot somewhere else get free.

I think you should withhold judgement. There's no indication that you don't have to buy the plot you're transferring to, in which case the advantage goes to whoever gets to the plot with the gil first, as it has always been. The transfer system is more like a moving company to save you the headache of hauling your furniture and setting it all up like it was.

I think the whole idea of "I want this and they can't have it" is silly. There shouldn't be a lockout for people who have a house, or a lockout for people who don't have a house, or a lockout for anyone. First dibs on whoever buys the plot first regardless of what they have or want.

Personally I wish they'd make it an instanced thing that could be kept even upon transferring servers. Ive wanted to transfer for soooo long but I can't because I dont want my 15mgil spent to go to waste (not to mention all my cool furniture)

This. Suck it up or leave. I personally never understood the need to have a house. What for? You can have a room in every damn inn FOR FREE! Yes FC have that neat Workshop, okay thats a good reason. But personal Housing? Oh cmon...you are never there cept the Time feeding your Choc, planting Stuff or afking until the next Queue pops...there are nicer places for that.

Houses are not just for vanity, they're not just for gil, they're a piece of exclusive content that (appears, at least from forums) people heavily dislike being exclusive.

Besides that being there does not directly equate to value of having it, I love my 1.0 Dalamud horn even though I never wear it. I love collecting gear even though I glamour as much as I love hunting S and A marks (pretty much not at all).
