It's because while you were sitting here on the forums complaining about how much housing was, we were out farming up the 3~100+million gil to purchase the house. We never get that money back unless someone is willing to buy you out of your plot and then spend another 3~100+million to buy the house. It's the fact that housing prices are so heavily exaggerated that is the reason that we get to keep our houses.

    This is the point.

How is it first dibs if the transfer to Ishgard is made available exactly at the same time as house buying? Sounds to me like it's make things as equal as they can be. Everyone gets their chance as soon as servers open after patch and if any current house owner gets to move to Ishgard they free up their old house. Making the house owners have to get rid of their old house with no guarantee of a new one in a brand new area would be more unfair than giving everyone hassle-free access.

The second part of your post is outdated, and I for one am happy about it.

Yeah I meant that it has been changed. Quite a big necro this one.

And that would be fine. Because then they actually have to abandon their old plots in a hurry (or risk losing out on available Ishgard spots), rather than sitting on them and trying to sell the rights for a would-be buyer to be present when the land is relinquished (thus forcing the new owner to pay for the same house twice - once to the server, and once (for an obscene amount of money) to the old renter).

Them owning a house isn't going to stop them from abandoning it and buying one in Ishgard just because you want one. What makes them wanting one different from you wanting one?

The problem isn't so much someone wanting to buy a home in Ishgard as much as that person wanting to purchase ANOTHER home in Ishgard. There's so few plots given the player population it's ridiculous.

You can't own more then one house per FC/Personal so if they lets say move to the new housing area their old housing location opens back up

Yes, you can. Unless I am not reading this post right and you are trying to make a suggestion.
Technically, one character can only have one house but...
People actively create alts for additional FC houses or personal houses.

    Discuss.
With the amount of un-recoverable furnishings that many people have in their houses, I think it's only fair that some kind of transfer system be put into place for those of us that already have housing in one of the existing wards. With a new ward opening up, of course many people would be interested in it and it'd be nice if it didn't involve massive financial loss to move. In any case, it's not like you can own two houses. If I transfer my house from Goblet to Ishgard, then there's a house open in Goblet. Someone that didn't have a house before can get my old one. I don't see why there should be some kind of lockout for those that already have housing.
