So far I love how SE as whole listens to players but PVP needs to be revamped and be one of this game’s strength’s not its liability. As FF14 is heading to its 2nd year- its time to make the game even better and better PVP would be a great start.
I am asking/pleading for the 1st step of making GC requirement optional or get rid of it entirely. Maybe a mercenary option

I do like this idea, I really want to get into PVP and prefer to do it with my friends but it's always a pain when they are different GC.

I love absolutely everything about this game, I genuinely do and I love PvP more than anything... but I say this only for constructive feedback: I hate hate hate PvP in this game for relying on Grand Companies.

I lead a mega guild, largest guild on Gilgamesh which is never open. When I had 500 active members in less than 30 days playing, we barely got together 8 players per Grand Company who wanted to play. Everyone got tired of trying to find Limsa players and all the Gridania players got immensely agitated because there were way too many to balance things out. Then Gridania had a massive track record of losing, so wait times were unbalanced and our Ul'dah players could never queue with us even if we tried.

The heart of our issue is the Grand Company affiliation. It's completely unnecessary and it adds nothing to the story. I'm begging you, pleeeease patch this. I want to run PvP so badly in my guild for the players who don't like elitist end-game content.

We're going to split the PvP population between 3 different game modes, on possibly 2 different maps, and into 3 GCs? It will kill the queues once the hype dies down. We need to abolish GCs for PvP. It would fix so many issues, from the long queues to the GC imbalances on some servers.

This is like the 100th petition thread for this, i liked your post, agree with pretty much everything that was said here, and i'll be positively surprised if they do anything (hell i'll be surprised if they answer this at all) but, at this point, and after over a year of waiting, i really doubt they will.

Yes yes yes. . . they reallllyyyy need to do this. Its not even a stretch lore wise to say mercenaries exist in pvp. I mean hell, free companies are basically mercenary organizations anyway FFS!
