PC version which is available on steam is a little bit better, offering a few extras that the 360 version does not.

It comes with the extra DLC, and also lets you recruit "The white seven" - the bosses you fight in the bases.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was related ... didn't the devs say the maps were more "capable" or something of being expanded upon for future content?

It's probably going to be important in future content, like a lot of small island areas scattered about (just like the island north of the Makers' Quarter in the Dravanian Hinterlands).
