    Beast Race Glamours

I think I speak for the majority of the playerbase when I say that Final Fantasy XIV is a beautifully crafted world. The locales, lore, classes and characters are very well done and engaging. This comes with a catch, however. You've crafted a number of exotic, diverse species with compelling cultural identities and visual styles. And you won't let us play as them. The Sylphs, the Ixali, the Qiqirn, these are very interesting species, but we're always on the outside looking in.

As for myself, I was very excited for the Au Ra and was all too glad to main one. And then I saw the Vanu Vanu. As soon as I saw them, there was this absolute letdown. Not because they were bad. The opposite. This was the coolest race I'd ever seen in any MMO...and I couldn't be them.

So, why can't we be them? Now, I think I understand the technical reasons. The cutscenes wouldn't work with them, you'd have some clipping issues with some classes/stances and they couldn't wear clothing. Okay. Well, why don't we compromise? What's to stop them from being costumes of a sort? Temporary glamours? I know the RP community would be glad to just be able to be one in a tavern or walk around as one. They could be instantly disabled during cutscenes, and if combat simply can't be done with them, that too. Just replace our character with the model of the generic friendly Vanu Vanu/Ixali/Sylph/whatever. You already have the walk animations for them all. I'd gladly pay money for such a full body costume. But more than that, I'd play Final Fantasy XIV until the servers shut down.

I think this is a neat idea. Making the beast races into costumes/glamour potions would be super fun!

They had items like this in FFXI, you would use it and become a "Monster", but you couldn't combat inside it or do much actions or any attack/defense actions. Still was pretty cool, though.

I think it's a great idea, especially for seasoned RPers who are tired of playing the regular ol' human-like factions/types of characters.

RPing on SWTOR, I saw a few people playing as another race or as a droid. If you can do it right, both in the way you act reflecting your race culturally, and with a solid explanation as to how/why you look the way that you do, then that's already a step in the right direction. Someone who can do this sort of thing well, it's almost always a ton of fun and really interesting! If you wanna go for it, I totally would!

I completely agree that a potion or costume for vanity purposes would be a fantastic idea. While we already have a great pool of lore to draw upon for RP, I feel it would add some flavor to it as well.
