    SE's Contradictory crafting.

So why make specialist jobs, which are supposed to allow people to SPECIALIZE in a certain craft, and then turn around and gate the Master Books behind a job that has nothing to do with your intended specialty???????

I can't get my Master Weaver III book because I need the dissolvents which run 40k each!! And I need two per craft! Cmon!

I'm totally scratching my head at this.

If I had to guess .. that's why there are three Souls that you can get.

In all seriousness though, you won't be happy to know that the various crafts are heavily inter-dependent this time around. Far more crafts (as a percentage) require stuff crafted by another crafting class in HW than in ARR.

I said it elsewhere - even if you are not going to *be* an Omni-Crafter, you need the skills of an Omni-Crafter to shine in your class.

On another note entirely, you *can* get Weaver hand ins on occasion that are for the crafting/gathering classes, and do not require those Grade 1 stat Dissolvents.

All the crafts are 100% gated behind other crafts or disciples. Weaver would be (strongly) gated behind Botanist as well as Leatherworker (botanist for fabrics, leatherworker for leather), as well as DoW/M to make them feel needed. Only problem is that SE went over the top, heavily. The level 60 weaver quest turn in?

    Chim felt (DoW/M - Alchemist)
Aurum Regis Nugget (Miner - GSM)
    Holy Ramie Cloth (Botanist)
    Crawler Silk (Botanist - DoW/M - Miner)
Grade 1 Mind Dissolvent (ALC - Fisher - Miner)
    Dawnborne Aethersand (DoL)

That's a requirement for 7 different disciplines to craft the one item for weaver, which is stupid to be honest.

If it makes you feel any better, depending on the type of dissolvent, 40k is not very far off from what it costs to make one as an alchemist on my server.

Low drop rates, lots of timed nodes and hidden items = super fun times for the average player

I've looked at my script hand-ins the last few days and just been "Yeah....no I'm good" and bought half my GC hand-ins just because it was cheaper to buy the HQ item than it was to buy the mats and usually by a lot since they hand out all that gear to players and half of them would rather sell it for a like 30-50k than take the time to bind it for materia.

The best part for me though is when you try to make an upgrade and you end up NQing and its worse than your current HQ item.

Yeah I was not at all happy with how many adamantite nuggets I had to make for Blacksmith leves to get to 60. I'm REALLY not looking forward to having to synth MORE adamantite stuff to finish Armorer to 60.

I think the specialization is more in relation to the harder crafts. I can't imagine that Whistle is necessary for much except extended more difficult crafts, dissolvents are able to be crafted by relatively fresh post 50 Alchemists. So yes, this games crafting system is heavily intertwined with other crafts, but were you expecting the specialization to be a fancy skill that turned all Weaving Recipes into all cloth materials?

Desynth is your friend, you can buy the gear in Helix for around 12k a pop, or 16k a pop, and get a bucket load of nuggets/leather etc. which sell for nice gil (or worthless BC2 materia, yuck)

Your better off making titanium stuff for collectible/leve turn ins. The exp scaling on these is pretty poor anyway. so it wont take that many more allowances/items made.

    No. Why would I?

I would however expect it not to be more reliant on other crafts after adding a specialist system, which is supposed to allow for people to craft the classes they specialize in easier.

It just makes no sense at this point. Why add specialist and then remove token turn ins? Lol.
