You linked to a picture of an armor set from WoW, with the only similarity being that the armor is close to the shade of red that these new weapons are.
I'm pretty sure I didn't put words in your mouth, either that, or you need to go edit your post to be a bit more clear.

Lol, they put subtle, very much in line with FF style magic into the game and of course people end up complaining.
also, why is you link so unrelated to the topic at hand. i think all it does is prove that they are not cartoony when compared to that pic.
Here's my example of the Fantasy gear...

You seem to be slightly more confused than I initially thought. I have not, as far as I am aware, linked to a picture of any WoW armors.
All the weapons in those pics look perfectly fine and unlike any of the ifrit-travesties.Here's my example of the Fantasy gear...

I especially like the lance on that Kain pic.

I hope they dont add a sling shot class.Yeah..I see nothing wrong with the items. They certainly aren't "cartoony" in the nature that you seem to be relating them to.(which, looks to be WoW) Does Ifrit look cartoony to you? Because the weapons are made to look like Ifrit, and they do.
Like others have said, it IS Final Fantasy. If you think this design is "cartoony" I would hate to see how you react to, oh say, the FFXIII weapons. They aren't exactly realistic.
(I think the bow looks pretty awesome, although I might be persuaded to say it is a bit bulky..a little bit.)
Personally, I think the Ifrit Weapons actually contrast the established ones very well. Everything else in the game looks natural, but the Primals are ANYTHING but - they are false gods summoned from beyond the aether, the void itself.
It makes sense that weapons forged in the image of that dark realm would carry the same ominous aesthetic. I think the contrast is on purpose. Moreover, I like them.

people are totally fine if their weapons are firing lazers or are attached to a gun, but the moment a weapon will actually take a form to resemble a monster they were obtained from they go apeshit.
what did the FF community turn into?
we used to have burning swords, electrocuted swords, even swords that were made of water (OH NOES!).
strange generation :3!
HAH. I see where this broke down at.
I was replying to the TC, and you were replying to my response to him.
This could be where the breakdown in communication is at. My bad, I'll make sure the names are the same next time, and not assume that people know I am relating back to the original post.(with the...WoW picture in it)
