Do they look like the rest of the gear in the game? no...
is the gear possibly from whatever plane of existence the primals are from there for have an out of this world appearance? maybe.

Yeah I can see where the confusion came from. No harm done!HAH. I see where this broke down at.
I was replying to the TC, and you were replying to my response to him.
This could be where the breakdown in communication is at. My bad, I'll make sure the names are the same next time, and not assume that people know I am relating back to the original post.(with the...WoW picture in it)

Since when did realistic and fantasy become synonyms? I always thought they were opposites and last time i checked i'm playing Final FANTASY. Not Final Realism....
Oh and to those of you saying it doesn't match the current style of the game, well no s$#&, they are trying to move away from the boring design people complained about. Trust me when i say that the style you saw will match very well future gear.

+Useless post, pple don't know what they want in these forums. They've been complaining for months about the bland and boring look of gear in this game and now that SE showed us some great looking weapons, pple start complaining.
I juts ignore these people as they are all FF XI fan boys who have a huge alergic reaction whenever they see stuff that may remotely remind them of WOW.
They are so stuck up on that game for the past 8 years and most of them never played any other FF title and use XI as the defining title for what a Final Fantasy game should be like, look like, etc. It is easy to see in their post as they only argument is always FFXI and don't see that every FF game is different from the previous. Different characters, style, art, gameplay, era etc....
Every Final Fantasy had epic/fantasy looking weapons and here is a few example which IMO match with what SE has done with the Ifrit weapons.

=Personally, I think the Ifrit Weapons actually contrast the established ones very well. Everything else in the game looks natural, but the Primals are ANYTHING but - they are false gods summoned from beyond the aether, the void itself.
It makes sense that weapons forged in the image of that dark realm would carry the same ominous aesthetic. I think the contrast is on purpose. Moreover, I like them.
Why are you still arguing when the thread is pretty much over?

really cause the sword on the right is called brotherhood and it glows blue alot more then the ifrit ones glow orange. heres a link to it glowing.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fijdbZf1vZsYou seem to be slightly more confused than I initially thought. I have not, as far as I am aware, linked to a picture of any WoW armors.
All the weapons in those pics look perfectly fine and unlike any of the ifrit-travesties.
I especially like the lance on that Kain pic.

So many people..
Quoting people who were not replying to them!
Insanity! Insanity!

When did they become black-and-white? The art style in Demon's Souls is fantasy-like even though it is based on realism.
Then you have games like Mount and Blade or something like Crysis that just try to aim for strictly realism in their art.

Here's my example of the Fantasy gear...

I'm sorry but none of these match FFXI's style so it's no no no for a final fantasy game. How dare you, don't you know that type of stuff is taboo in these forums?
Sorry, you shouldn't speak for everyone. If you read through all the threads, more people are happy with the designs. I still don't see where people get the idea that it looks like WOW. The weapons are a lot more detailed in this game. Etc. What I do know though is some players want this to be a FF11 clone. That's fine but just go play 11 if you want that style. After the video of the ifrit battle weapon drops, I read a large amount of negative feedback about the stylization and artwork design. I thought the thm and conj weapons were done nicely, however the archer and gladiator maybe a bit much....
I can say emphatically nobody wants this after reading enough post:

But what do we want? Can we come up with some dialog to describe what we think the art style should be for ff14 moving forward. At launch there seemed to be a large amount of base (bland) gear. Moving forward I want to see more Final Fantasy brand flare, but not to the point where it breaks down the 4th wall by looking so over the top as to be out of place with the rest of the game design.
here's a start:
I'd like weapons and armor to look functional
- Pugilist weapons would break your wrist if you used them irl. They should be attached at the forearm not held. (pet peeve)
I'd like weapons to be realistically sized
Armor shouldn't be overly stylized like a tron suit (ease up on the lines!)
what else....stay on art style.
good freaking hell this is a fantasy game. I think the weapons look great. /facepalm
