Cartoony art style, hell no we won't go

Yeah..I see nothing wrong with the items. They certainly aren't "cartoony" in the nature that you seem to be relating them to.(which, looks to be WoW) Does Ifrit look cartoony to you? Because the weapons are made to look like Ifrit, and they do.
Like others have said, it IS Final Fantasy. If you think this design is "cartoony" I would hate to see how you react to, oh say, the FFXIII weapons. They aren't exactly realistic.

(I think the bow looks pretty awesome, although I might be persuaded to say it is a bit bulky..a little bit.)

Realism can be present in many forms, and in different levels.

You linked to a picture of an armor set from WoW, with the only similarity being that the armor is close to the shade of red that these new weapons are.

I'm pretty sure I didn't put words in your mouth, either that, or you need to go edit your post to be a bit more clear.

All the weapons in those pics look perfectly fine and unlike any of the ifrit-travesties.

I especially like the lance on that Kain pic.

I love this picture. This is what i was thinking. It follows one sophisticated looking style while clearly defining the classes/jobs. This is the game I want.
