Petition Against Ifrit Weapon Designs

There's quite a few design directions to choose from. Even these weapons would be fine if they toned down on the designs a bit, especially on the bow...and the knuckles. The glowing part is hardly much of an issue, although it certainly emphasizes the real issue.

Now they're simply unnecessarily big and bulky, perhaps in order to appeal to the type of audience that thinks the bigger and flashier the better, regardless of context.

I can see your point. I guess when I saw them I took it with a grain of salt assuming Titan's would be just as bulky then Leviathin's and whichever wind and ice primals are in the game would be significantly smaller.

To me, they're that size because they're his horns, so I suppose that's why I remain excited.

Once you go all epic and shiny it's hard to go back. From then on everything has to be more epic, shinier and at the end of the day nothing really is because using them so often waters them down. You will no longer really appreciate something slightly over-the-top when it comes along when you've had that sort of equipment since the very beginning.

I don't think the design is bad. It's just a "bit too much".

Equipment design is one of the main reasons i play this game and not WoW or Aion and i think a lot of people think so too.

Jabo I agree. Image is important man.

Sephrick i can see excitement from them being his horns but if u look at PGL item, they are so much smaller horns than other items. PGL weapon still can't be his horn. They are too small. It is inconsistencies that I don't approve of. If it doesn't work they shouldn't force it.

Why do people here feel an incessant need to whine about everything? Look, you don't like the weapons, fine; don't use them. Don't carry them around. I think they not only look great, they look really appropriate for Ifrit drops, and some poor schlub at SE spent months getting them right. I don't think it's fair or appropriate to raise a stink about the damn things before they've even been released.

I wish people on this forum could just give it a rest, and stop reflexively kicking the Devs in the balls every time a new detail is released. I'd be depressed if I were an SE guy on this project, and saw how ungrateful at least half the posters here are for all their hard work.

Look, that's a defeating attitude Cyclo. You don't just settle for things. Even though we are not paying a subscription right now the game isn't a free to play game. SE is reimbursing us for the bad launch but i still consider myself invested into this game. So if i'm invested into it I want it to shine. Making the game look like a korean free to play will not help it when being re-released.

As for avoiding bad looking items. I shouldn't have to. If this new item is better than current endgame item, why should I gimp myself for poor design? They should be atleast decent looking to everyone. Everyone doesn't need to love them but be ok with them. I despise /display main off command and I refuse to use it and i think it enables people to say things like that *just turn it off man*.

So your saying, for example, if someone gave me low grade tires for my car that wouldn't last a month for free I should just appreciate them because they were gift? No way. Look, I'm grateful they are updating and adding stuff but they need to maintain a consistent look and feel to the game.

My god, aren't you the spoiled little brat, who wants everything catered to his taste.... the amount you 'invested' into this game is a joke. SE owes you nothing based upon that.

I like the look of the new weapons, I believe that most others do as well. I'm quite sure that the playerbase will be happy with these items. I would suggest that you drink a big cup of Get the Hell Over It and move on.

I can't imagine, even for a second, being so rude as to pre-emptively demand that changes are made to content that hasn't even been released yet, based on nothing more than my attitude about how weapons should look in a fantasy video game. You do realize that it's rude and disrespectful to the Devs who put hard work into making the game, right?

I don't think a 'lot of people' hate the look. I think a few people do, and they are spending a lot of time crabbing about it in a discussion forum. I've seen many more people approve of the designs than disapprove...

It's not rude. Its a business. I am a Designer and I have an educated opinion sir. If your not going discuss the design of the item then please don't waste my time. This isn't the place for you to sling insults. We pay SE not the other way around so we all have valid opinions and need to do so in an adult manner.

As a designer I have a decent understanding on the games image and equity. I obviously do not know everything about it as im not in the loop as they are but I have a keen enough eye to see when something isn't right. It's like when i can tell when someones work is too warm or cool and how they need to correct their colors right off. It is just instinctive by now. Normal people wouldn't notice subtle changes or how to fix them or maybe even they would just be satisfied.

Also, Someone can put a ton of work into something and still have it come out wrong. Its about the end result. I think not agreeing with them isn't insultive, it's constructive which wasn't what the old Dev team had, can you blame me for being cautious? Your obviously not a creative person and do not understand critisim as I've laid it out for people to see. It isn't just a rant or a hate post, there are valid opinion there, show me yours please.

It's not wrong of me to point out that you are, in my opinion, being rude. It's just as valid as your original opinion, which I disagree with strongly. I don't think the weapons look bad at all; I think they look just right, in fact. Even the PUG one which nobody else seems to like; it looks cool to me. I certainly wouldn't want to get hit with it.

Additionally, last time I checked, you're not paying SE anything any more. So that's hardly a valid argument to make.
