Like I said before, they're just a bit wide. If they narrow them down a bit then everything would look fine.

So would you guys be against something like this:

Granted its not Akihiko's or samples from his usual style, he does have a habit of making rare weaponry really elaborate/strange looking, judging by FF tactics advance or FFXII. And those are examples that FF games do have a mix of normal "realistic" weaponry and strange looking weapons.

The problem here is not the weapon designs. I for one think they look awesome. I believe the concern here is their size. I saw the video and when that archer pulled out that gargantuan "bow" I almost laughed. Good fantasy is borders on believable. Bad fantasy borders on absurd. YES to weapon designs. NO to hauling around ridiculously massive chunks of a deceased beast.

Its been said already but i agree. Its not the skin its the size of the weapon and intensity of the glow. I'm not saying all big weapons look bad but these would look much better if they were thinner.

I for one thing they are awesome! Keep up the good work devs.
Don't give me that, "They are too big or too flashy." BS Have you seen Final Fantasy?
This is like that movie white chicks... "Oh I'm going to write a letter!!!" Please. Get a life, its weapons that will eventually be replaced anyway, if you don't like just remember, IT'S JUST A GAME!

We've all been playing a year, and honestly I do like FFXIV' bronze age naturalist approach to colors. But really, i'm tired of everyone either being brown, black, or period blood red. The spice is nice. And who knows, maybe some day we will get the chance to obtain armors that are similar to the Garleans, which will then in fact look really cool with the ifrit weapons.

Eaxctly... plus the weapons are already fully made for the game and being added tuesday, a petition at this point won't make em not add them :P LoL
As for the size, what do you expect? these weapons are forged from Ifrit!!! Expect EVEN BIGGER weapons from the future Titan fight LoL!!! Gotta wait till Garuda if you want more elegant smaller ones^^ Fits the primals :P

I am glad that at least some of you possess a brain bigger than the size of a pea and know how to use more than 10% of it.

This, this is exactly how I feel. There is absolutely no reason for the size of these weapons. They would look a thousand times better if they were just a realistic size. Detailed items look a lot better than Giant items..The problem here is not the weapon designs. I for one think they look awesome. I believe the concern here is their size. A person could not hold a bow like that with one hand and punching something with those PUG knucks would break your wrist. We all get that it's a fantasy game, but there is no reason to make things absurd for the sake of being absurd. Especially in the case of making things oversize.
Giant Crab looks kool.
Giant Knuckles looks absurd.
