OK I was dubious when a friend suggested WTFast

But wow my routing to the servers must have been really shitty because it cut about 150 off my ping if the listed stats are true/correct, and even if they aren't it made a really noticeable difference.

Playing from australia on behemoth and going from ~350-400 to ~250-300 is a life saver.

No I'm not a shill, just amazed that it actually worked.

And of course these sorts of services have mixed result, they will only do anything for you if

a) your routing to the server isn't the best it can be

and b) the routing provided by the service is better than a)

with the improvement being measured as a function of how much better b) is than a).

Are they paying you for this? They're paying you aren't they? It made zero difference for me personally. I gave it a try when I was on my original server, before I transferred to Ragnarok, since playing on a US server from the EU was really killing the connection.

I have no doubt the service works for some, but it's not a cure-all, and shouldn't be advertised as such.

Probably depends on whether there's anything to improve. From what I understand, WTFast works by routing your data traffic through less congested internet hubs. If your connection is already following the best possible route, or close to it, then using WTFast won't make a lick of difference.

It worked noticably well for my brother, due to a rather notioriously congested hub that, for some reason, an awful lot of US East Coast traffic is routed through on the way to the data center in Canada.

Unfortunately, if your connection is crappy, but all alternative connections are crappier still, WTFast isn't gonna help.

I have Verizon Fios and live in Delaware. Had horrible crap lag due to routing. WTFast makes my game lag free and snappy. Works for me very very well.

When wtfast stops working in the middle of raid, I rage. I literally cannot double weave my CDs without it. The delaybon my gcd is incredible.

I'm on the west coast of Canada.

it won't do much for you from the EU because crossing the pond is pretty hefty and there's not really a lot of routing choices.

The fact that they have their servers hosted on a slow ass business cloud network with a crapton of redundancies which slows it down.

Getting the servers OUT of Quebec would help a ton for most of the players in NA, and putting them on the west coast would fix the AU problem a little bit.

it won't do much for you from the EU

I've been using it for the past 2 years. It does reduce the latency to some degree and it's especially noticeable when tanking and chaining skills. The game can't keep up with fast apm players (keyboard and mouse) without it. Eu data centers can't come fast enough.

I don't even know how I'd manage to play without WTFast, my mudras still clip into my GCD quite a bit, but at least I don't get bunnies, or die to AoEs I was long out of (can still happen if my internet starts acting up though).

I haven't used it personally, but I know several people who have with great results (NA).
