You can also remap your controller setting to have have a button or a trigger to do /facetarget. Mine is R3

DO NOT macro face target on your abilities... What this does is it prevents you from buffering any gcds, meaning it is a dps loss since your gcds will go out slower. Simply pressing F while casting is the proper way.

Or you can bind F to a controller button or whatever as the above post suggests

As a dps NEVER use macros on any of your damaging skills. I've written this somewhere before but acceptable macros are as folllows for blm:

Aetherial manipulation, eye for an eye, apoc... and that's about it.

Except it does. If you macro a skill you cannot queue it.

Is this the same as in the character/control/target settings?

"Automatically face target when using action"

From above posts, seems /facetarget has continuous tracking.

Hmm, haven't noticed that until now. I usually keep pressing the button until I see it come up on the casting bar.

Normally, you can queue up your action during the previous action. Like if I'm casting Bio II, and I press Miasma at 0.5s remaining in Bio II's cast, then I'll begin casting Miasma the moment Bio II's cast finished without any further input needed.

If Miasma was in a macro, and I pressed it with 0.5s remaining in Bio II's cast, then nothing would happen. Even if you mash the button, you'll still take longer to begin casting with the macro. The delay seems small enough by itself, but it easily adds up to lost attacks over the course of an encounter.

I was wondering the same, I have the above enabled, so I'm wondering what a seperate facetarget keybind would do for me. Unless maybe the action above just applies for when initiating a cast, and a subsequent facetarget could be used mid-cast if the target is moving significantly?

The automatically face target setting makes your character instantly look your target when you begin a cast/weapon skill. Without it, you'd have to manually pan your character to look at your target to attack. It initially faces your target, but does not follow it.

The /facetarget feature everyone is talking about forces your character to face your target even when your target moves. Your character will turn for you mid-cast so that you do not get interrupted due to the target not being in your line of sight.
