Proposing ilevel Sync for Great Gubal Library

I think there should be an ilevel sync for the Great Gubal Library, and I will explain why.

First off, I am not new to tanking. I played both Paladin and Warrior before Heavensward, but with the release of the expansion, I decided to pick up Dark Knight. My Dark Knight is currently level 59 (very close to 60!) and is the second class I decided to level with 3.0, having gotten my Monk to level 60 already.

I have not had any problems holding aggro in The Vault (or any content prior to The Vault), and normally, in The Great Gubal Library, I'm fine. However, I recently had a run where a Summoner was very easily pulling entire mobs off of me. With Grit and Darkside up, I'd be Unleashing into a crowd about 4 or 5 times, and the Summoner would still get aggro, or get very close to getting aggro, within a few seconds afterwards. I did not realize why at first- I triple checked to make sure Grit was up, and I did not seem to be lagging.

But then I found out why- He was level 60, equipped with a Hive Grimoire, a few Prototype Gordion (Alexander) equips, and the rest was Asuran gear (Doman-upgraded Allagan Tomestones of Law). He was very easily over ilevel 180, while I, being level 59, was only ilevel 137, wearing mostly armour from The Vault, and a few accessories lower than that.

Between pulls, I was also very low on MP from fighting to get back aggro. I did not have time to combo into Syphon Strike, and the MP afforded from Blood Price and Sole Survivor was not enough. Even though we finished the dungeon without any big problems, and I kept the mobs off the Summoner for most of the time, I feel like this gap will only widen as more people level up, and get gear from the upcoming Alexander (Savage) and Allagan Tomestones of Esoterics.

People will still be going back to do The Great Gubal Library when geared at level 60 during Low Level Duty Roulette (for Tomestones) or simply for glamour gear. Therefore, I think an ilevel sync for The Great Gubal Library would be useful for people leveling tanks, in particular.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

Lol... Sync won't help. Overgear will beat undergear no matter what.

Just hang in there and soon you'll have your own law gear to make it a lot easier.

Sync doesn't gimp wep DMG enough to matter.

I constantly pull off tanks as MCH, even before I hit max level, though.... but of course now I do it much more.
I don't know if a sync is in order.... maybe. None of the tanks have said anything though. I've tried slowing down to let them get aggro back though.

While it is true that overgear will still be a bit up, its always been known that a LARGE ilvl difference, more so in weapons, can make a big difference between tanks and dps. Its one of the reasons that getting a weapon upgrade first is recommended for tanks. an ivl sync (or just plain level sync to 59) would help out greatly for situations such as these.

Ohhhh ILVL. Bad reading on my part. I was thinking character level which does nothing for this problem.

Sync to 142 would be good in this case.

Yes I've yanked aggro from tanks really easy on i162 blm.

More likely 145 (since library gear is 145) or 150. ilvl 142 is Vault gear at 57. It's fault of the dps though, that they do it. I like the option that you can bring level 60 dps into that dungeon and make the run last 15 min. It makes leveling from 59 to 60 an easy job.

I agree, it does make for faster runs! Things were dying fairly quickly (which contributed to difficulties recovering MP), but it just felt messy to me, haha. It is the fault of the DPS, but I feel like in Duty Finder, you'll get people that just go all out for the heck of it. I think whenever he put up Quelling Strikes, I was able to keep up well. No problems with bosses either, since they were single-target.

Normally, 2-3 Unleashes on a mob is enough for me to individually tab through them with a Power Slash combo alongside all my off-global-cooldown moves, giving me breathing room for Syphon Slash. It just really blew me away that even 4 or 5 Unleashes wouldn't be enough in this situation. And the second I stepped out of an AOE, he would be at risk of getting aggro since he could continue attacking from long range while I was dodging.

Anyhow, I reached level 60 on my Dark Knight without encountering another group like this, so I can equip all the tank Law gear I've been hoarding, haha. Haven't run into any problems on Neverreap or Fractal Continuum. Guess I won't be having this problem until I get my Paladin and Warrior to 59!

iLVL sync isn't the answer, overgeared DPS learning when to hold back is the answer.

OP, just appreciate that you had great dps and thank them for making you work so hard and making the run go faster instead of getting so flustered! Ask them if there's anything you can do better and tell them how great they are doing. Dps so rarely get compliments in dungeons. It feels awesome to rip hate off a tank and have them say, "Wow, not used to such great dps!" Usually, tanks get angry when dps are making them fight for hate. A tank who shows they are having fun trying to up their game to compensate regardess of ilvl or skill will always get my commendation for being a good sport.
