"Over and over again"? They're not (and should not) adding any additional rewards for Legacy players. This is just about sticking to a finite couple of promises made back then. The limited nature of all the v1 and Legacy crap was widely publicized; if it was that important to you to get this stuff I guess you should have?
Folks keep saying Legacy users are "greedy". How is this need to have everything they earned by supporting trainwreck v1 long enough for it to make it to v2 not greed?
You should have included the rest of my quote, as it addressed your comments."Over and over again"? They're not (and should not) adding any additional rewards for Legacy players. and it still is going on. There always is a fervent defender of whatever oddball decision comes down the pipe. From the sounds of it, the volume of oddball decisions has gotten smaller (which is good) but the defense of them is just as vigorous (which is not). I wish more people could enjoy something but be able to accept that it has faults.I don't think you understand... No1 liked 1.0. The sheer amount of fanboyism, white knighting, and absurd defense arguments during 1.0 was staggering!! It puts the console war to shame. I truly believe there are people that would buy a box filled with dogshit if you put a final fantasy logo on it.
OP: I'm not a legacy player and truthfully I don't mind them keeping the legacy awards as exclusive. There isn't much in the game that is truly exclusive and them having minor bits of shininess seems okay to me. Had I not come from WoW, which was laden with things that came once and then never came back, I probably would care more, but Blizzard beat that out of me.
The rest of your comment addressed nothing from mine, and had nothing to do with your main idea about rewarding Legacy players "over and over again", or the OP, or the limitation of certain items. The rest of your comment sounded like a bunch of petulance about things you weren't around for. Yes, there was white knighting. No, Legacy players weren't responsible for how broken v1 was. I am a Legacy player, specifically because I was excited about the direction Yoshi P and his team purported to be taking the game in and I wanted to support it. I bought it for $8 off eBay long after launch, which I avoided after playing the horrific beta. V1 was awful. It was awful. It doesn't matter if a handful of people enjoyed a handful of things about it. It was unsustainable regardless because the vast majority of people found it awful. That's not at issue.
It's worth pointing out that there is precendent to SE taking a previously-1.0 exclusive item and making it available to everyone in 2/3.0:
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...m/65b9ed2a045/
The Star-spangled subligar was originally a quest reward for finishing the last available Fisher quest at level 36 in 1.23. When 2.0 launched with the completely new Guild quests that ran all the way to 50, they completely did away with the old quest system and the item because unavailable to anyone who hadn't completed the old quest...that is until they added it as a reward for finishing the Postmoogle quest chain a few months ago.
In this way the item reward was very similar to the level 30 Wandering Minstrel quest that became unavailable to anyone who hadn't completed it by 2.0 launch. So there IS a possibility that SE will re-introduce the old Goobbue mount item as a reward for some future quest chain.
If I'm being honest, when they re-added the subligar I was initially upset that my item was no longer "special" to me and a select few, but over time I'm glad that more people have had the opportunity to share in what is a pretty unique and cool-looking item. In this way if they ever added a way to obtain the mount, I would probably be a little sad at first, but also happy that a greater amount of people can enjoy a cool-looking mount.
That said, as far as the Legacy chocobo/mark are concerned, SE did explicitly say those would be unique rewards to players with "Legacy" status, and I think it'd be better if they stuck to their word on that. Any other 1.0 item, though (looking at you, Onion set!) I can understand why they'd bring back.
Just as a side note, you can get pieces of the onion set from ventures I believe. I have 2 pairs of the shoes and I'm pretty sure I only had one full set with no extras at the end of 1.xx. I don't actually remember when or how I got the extra shoes but I think it must've been via ventures.
Wow. Just wow. There is a reason we are legacy we enjoy Final Fantasy with depth and substance, we supported 1.0 after its failed launch. Due to its unfinished rushed release, it had issues. But it also had alot of potential, we remain loyal to square enix and support them. We hope that someday they will provide the world with the quality it deserves, but all we have gotten so far is a game design that breeds mouthbreathers. That cant even handle the optional quests in matoya's cave because they didnt get an UI to light up and hold their hand, and they would have been forced to think but that hurts for that kind of player. So we return to waiting, because we have patience.
*cough* Yeah, uh. That person doesn't speak for all Legacy players.
IN SUMMARY AND IN CONCLUSION. No v1 apologism from me; 2 is great and I'm pleased with its direction and community (generally?), but I'd like certain things to be kept out of the cash shop if it was suggested their availability was limited, and going back to something someone said on a previous page, this includes things from v2 that were presented in a way that suggested they couldn't be obtained in the future.

ITT: All of the sudden people love a failed game that they hated to the ground.
Well, wonder why we're here today lol.
