I find it funny how THESE specific one time only items seem to be off limit to the masses, but then you see threads pop up supporting one time event items to go straight to the cash shop, like the lightning stuff, and the other events like DQ and the like. Nice double standards. If we weren't there for the 1.x items, and that's your reasoning, then you have no right to the post 2.x items you missed. One time only, or limited time only should mean just that. If people end up getting the latter, the other should be up for grabs. Just my two cents.
Edit: Just for clarification, I don't think either should be obtainable. But if one goes, they both should go.

kinda surprised I had to use this again... I'm not even a legacy player, but OP...

I'm not a legacy player. (Did play 1.0 but didn't stick with it.) I don't think they should even add it to cash shop, the whole point of legacy player bonuses is that they are a thank you to the players who supported the game from the start.
I also think that special event items should stay exclusive too, gives you something you can feel proud of owning if you made the event. Yeah shame for people who didn't get them but that's how it goes~

I don't know about the Legacy Goobue mount
But for all others things, they can just offer us a reskinned version of legacy-only items? That way they'll have the best of both worlds: legacy will have their version + the slightly reskinned one too, while non-legacy will only get that reskinned version. The Goobue mount is probably the best example I can think of.

Legacy members are not getting any new privilege. please don't make our existed privileges worthless. They already gave another Goobbue mount to everyone. just be happy with that.

I think we're getting some of these items mixed together. I agree that if other one-time items make a comeback or are put on sale in the shop, then the goobbue should be included. That mount wasn't part of the Legacy campaign, it was simply a one-time event during 1.0's final year. You could technically have subbed for only 1-2 months in 2012, gotten the Goobbue, and then unsubbed, therefore not qualifying for Legacy status. You could argue it was made available by the same team and during the same time period, etc, but emotional connections aside, it's hardly any different than the Lightning Strikes campaign.
The Legacy Chocobo, on the other hand, was part of the Legacy campaign, a status that persists to this day. The campaign was a way of thanks for those who were supporting ARR by subbing to FFXIV before it even went down for the transition to 2.0/ARR, not a celebration of a new game in the same franchise coming out. It was a "Thank you", not a "Hooray!". The Tattoo is literally exclusive only to characters that were transferred off of 1.0's servers, not part of the Legacy Campaign. Create a new character, no tattoo, Legacy member or not.
So, Goobbue? Whatevs, sure, throw it in the cash shop along with the Lightning stuff. But it most certainly is not in the same category as the tattoo or the Legacy chocobo.

Yes, it is. At least in the sense that SE went out of their way to say the mount wouldn't be available after a certain period. It was a limited time offer that ended even before the servers were shut down. People just tend to call it a legacy item because that's the easiest way to refer to anything that predates 1.0 even if it wasn't technically part of the legacy campaign.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.

Yes, all three were "one time events", however the Goobbue (like the Lightning Strikes event) was literally just a one time event, which could have just as easily occurred in the early days of A Realm Reborn instead. "Hey you guys, here's a fun quest with a reward that won't be available once the event's over!" pretty much sums up both the Goobbue and Lightning Strikes events. There will obviously be more one-time events moving forward, the rewards for these will also fall into the same category as the Goobbue mount and Lightning items.
However, it's highly unlikely at this point that 2.0-onwards will ever see a catastrophic failure leading to another overhaul resulting in another 1.0-2.0-like character transfer (Tattoos) and the Legacy Campaign (Legacy Chocobo). The intent behind these was vastly different from those behind the Goobbue or Lightning items.
"Ul'dah can keep their dusty markets, and their streets paved in silver and gold.
Limsa Lominsa keep your pirates, and your ships covered in musty mold.
My loyalty lies with Gridania, with the Moogles and the tree spirits of old." -The Forky Conjurer

The goobbue is different from a special event like Lightning's though.Yoshi-P'sThe Wandering Minstrel's dialogue explains his new role in reshaping the game and how he probably would have never come so far if it weren't for the continuous support of the players. The goobbue horn is a literal thank you to players for sticking with a pile of hot garbage. It would make zero sense for them to ever re-release the exact same red-carpeted one.
The only thing complex about the old combat system was trying to accurately describe how terrible it was. It looked clunky and it played even worse.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
