I remember the page saying that those who qualified for Legacy status saying that those with Legacy status would keep the reduced fee for the life of the game. I don't recall them ever saying that it would remain exclusive to Legacy players. the chocobo mount on the other hand they did specificaly say would remain exclusive.
the goobbue mount on the other hand was a limited time mount that they promised they would never do again.
I remember being upset about this because I missed the oppertunity by about 2 weeks.
I do not think they should redo it or add a new way to get it. adding a mount like it is fine.
personally I think both of the goobbue mounts are ugly so I'll be skipping over the one I can get.
it was a promise made and I for one would like to see them keep as many promises as possible.

They only pay less than $10/month for subscribing to 1.0 for at least 90 days and they talk about "privileges"
If we're resorting to slinging mud, that's actually my opinion of the more vocal opponents of Legacy Membership.

We were given a promise an offer made uniquely to a specific time period. Both people who saw an opportunity to capitalize on it, and those who were supporting the game from the start, paid their dues in a time of weakness for the game and the company and now reap the benefits of that. Those who were uninformed or those who elected not to, missed out.

Jealousy of that cold hard fact, in my opinion, is not a becoming demeanor.

Perhaps in the future it may behoove you to pay attention to gaming media at large -

Kotaku - Square Enix Really, Really Wants You To Play Final Fantasy XIV

IGN - FINAL FANTASY XIV: 'WELCOME BACK'
Share. New campaigns reward returning players and current subscribers.

Gamebreaker TV - FFXIV Legacy Campaign Starts

Curse - Final Fantasy XIV: Legacy and Welcome Back Campaigns Announced!

Being envious or counteractive of an announced-public special for the game that ran for multiple months because you elected not to or were not informed, and calling those people entitled - is like being accusatory of someone who purchased a $60 game with bonuses on a Summer Steam Sale.

    No Sympathy.

I've been playing this game since Alpha (March, 2010). Heck my forum member number is 134... I would only say no to this simply because I put my time and effort in getting as much of the exclusive items as I could. I'd like to keep what little I have from 1.0. There should be exclusive items in all versions of the game that you just can't get again, even 3.0 should have something because it's a reward for those players who've played and stuck with the game.

Really at the end of the day I want the company to stand by what it says.

When it comes to video games, "exclusive" has (for better or worse) come to mean "this is the only way to get this item at this particular moment". All across gaming, we've seen it with exclusive CE rewards, veteran rewards, DLC that eventually goes free, etc. Anyone who is expecting otherwise is setting themselves up for disappointment.

I've seen developers go as far as making statements like "..this item will never be available again outside this offer so long as I'm lead on this project..", which even then is only a guarantee until that particular developer moves on and another lead with different ideas takes their place. Very little remains exclusive forever, especially if it wasn't paid for through a micro-transaction.

Hermes Shoes were also 1.0 exclusive too (could only gain them by having a concurrent FFXI account as well as a FFXIV 1.0 account and linking them together). Onion Helm and Garlond Goggles were bonus items vouchers that as far as I understand are still available to be redeemed, as long as you can track down an unused code (which is becoming increasingly difficult to find).
