Lightning strikes was far from a one time event. They made that perfectly clear when they did it 4 TIMES.
And much like the Lurtnin event, people where given plenty of oppertunity and warnings before the cutoff.

I'm sure this thread spawned from the Moonlet Earring appearing on the cash shop. Thing that makes the Moonlet Earring different from the Minstrel Goobbue is it's means of obtainment. The Moonlet Earring was an event reward, to celebrate(?) the start of the Dalamud storyline. The Minstrel Goobbue was a genuine side-quest, whose rewards weren't in celebration of anything, it was just a side-quest. As such, it wasn't tied to any event, even though it did receive advertising unheard of for any side-quests before nor since that didn't involve Hildibrand. So far Square hasn't made a single non-event side-quest reward available on the cash shop, not even the Hildibrand or Trail of the Twelve rewards. I personally think the the Sylph Goobbue is a perfectly good substitute. As for the 'older one is taller, it's not. Not anymore, anyway, as the Sylph Goobbue is literally just a reskin.

Uh Oh just NOsome stuff should be only obtainable by actually playing the game
if you want to support the game go buy retainers, or dyes :P
We support the game already by paying monthly.
It's absolutely ridiculous we have to pay for MORE INVENTORY SLOTS, and God damn dye's.
Anyway, I think some Legacy stuff should stay just for them.
We cannot have every single thing guys.
1.0 was more using skills tactfully than it was 2.0s break dancing to avoid damage. The system was designed with animation lock in mind.
Different strokes for different folk I guess. Much prefer 1.o combat with real weight behind your attacks and comitment.

As someone that started midway...
No thanks. Legacy players can have their status symbols.
The Legacy goobooboo.. Gubu. Gababuuu. Whever it is called. Is the Only thing from 1.0 I have... aside from a kimono like dress I got during an event. I think it is unique to 1.0? I feel special having it anyways.
But overall I say if people want to pay Real money for it. Let them.
But I do also like and support the idea of keeping things the way they are.
I see merit in both ideas and as a gABuuBoo owner I support either direction square takes.

As a Legacy player, the only thing that needs to remain exclusive is the Tattoo and the Tattoo'd Chocobo.
Everything else, can be put back into the game AS LONG AS THE ORIGINAL CONDITIONS TO OBTAIN THEM COME WITH IT

I am a legacy player. And while I'm not particularly attached to my legacy-specific mounts. However, I would not want them to go do this.
The reason is, this was one of the first, full on promises Yoshida gave us, and he's held fast to it. I'd rather not encourage a concept of promises with expatriation dates on them.
