If they added these mats at the same time as the recipes (presumably next Tuesday), the first people to unlock the nodes would sell these for an exorbitant amount to the first people to unlock the recipes. By allowing the gathering first, the market will essentially become flooded once the recipes are released. I myself have stacks of these materials ready. I see them listed already for as low as 10k. This should prevent demand from outstripping supply.
